when you guys blind review LR for missed questions after grading them, for example on necessary assumptions or flaw questions, do you try to figure out what the flaw is before looking at the correct answer or do you just see it right away?

I am currently reviewing some necessary assumption questions I had a hard time on previous PTs, and I don't remember the correct answers for them; so before looking at the correct answer, I just try to figure out the gap beforehand.

Do you guys think this is a waste of time and I should just review by seeing the correct answers right away?

you should 100% try to figure it out before looking at the answers. it teaches muscle memory (so to speak) and it facilitates seeing patterns in the test, which leads to faster answers and accuracy when you recognize that almost every question is a "stamp" or mold of a single common variation .

Thanks for the advice!

Checking in. This is a retake for me (last took in February). I exhausted all my prep material in January. I'll take my only fresh PT, PT81, this weekend, and if I don't get a score I like I won't sit for the test.

Hi there, Checking in as well.

I decided to register with this site to check up on my fellow test takers. I didn't feel ready for the September test even though I had plenty of time to study. I didn't study all that much and I'm a little disappointed in my self for that. The December test is 2 months and 18 days away and I feel confident about it.

At the moment, I have the enviable duty to memorize terms & techniques from the LR Bible. So far, I have memorized the first, second, third, and fourth family sets of questions as well as the conclusion and premise indicators. I've found flash cards helpful so far and will continue to use them.

I started with a diagnostic of 154 early this year and aim to improve to at least a 170. Wish me luck! Good luck to you as well.

Just registered for the Feb LSAT, not because I think I will not do well in December, but rather because LSAC has so conveniently placed the registration deadline for Feb just a few days before December scores will be released. Gotta love it.

ICK, I would hate to take February because it's not disclosed. Also, Feb is late for the 18 cycle. If you're applying for the 19 cycle and I were in your shoes, I would just delay until June because it's disclosed and is a 12:30 check-in instead of 8:30.

LSAC must have wised up to some of our tactics. The Sept deadline was after the June test so a lot of people in the June group left registration for Sept in their cart each day that scores could have been released to hold their spot in a preferred center.

My plan is to apply the day Dec scores come out and if I score below my PT range, take Feb and use it for any waitlists I get put on. If, on the other hand, I score within my PT range for Dec I will just cancel Feb and be done with the LSAT forever. If I do really bad on the Dec test Ill postpone, take June, and apply for 2019, but at this point I definitely do not want to have that sort of mindset.

Did sufficiently well on my PT 81 "diagnostic" so I'll go ahead and take the exam this December. I was definitely rusty (then again I did drink heavily last night), barely finished each section and in fact left one LR blank, but hopefully that improves with prep. Only problem is I have no fresh materials until PT 82 is released.

Spoilers for PT 81:

The reading comprehension passages were complicated but the questions seemed fair. Would rather have it that way then something thats easy to read but comes with very difficult questions. LG was easy, although it did take me awhile to crack the last one. I assume this is why the scale was so brutal. LR normal, had trouble finishing a section but that was due to my own trouble focusing. The ones I got wrong all seemer blatantly obvious on review

In.

If I get the score I need on the Sept LSAT I will not take Dec, but given I have no idea how I did on the last sections I think it's best I begin prepping for Dec now.

Same boat :!: Even if I score well on Sept. test, I think a few more months of prep and I can break 170s.

Same here...I know I did well on RC and LR sections, but I bombed LG...I was so nervous I only did 2 games when I got -0 on almost all PTs.....not sure how to feel about this.....

If the curve really ends up being -9 or -10 you'll probably see me here

Starting Oct 1 I'm going to start studying again on the assumption I'll be taking December until proven otherwise.

After reading through both the June and September waiter threads Im predicting a ridiculously hard LG for Dec. The sentiment seems to be that both were pretty easy so were definitely due for something a bit more challenging. Also, it seems as though the June and September had hard RC, but that may just be because RC has progressively gotten more challenging in general.

For those September retakers - how long are you taking to rest before going full force again? I'm thinking my score will end up being a 165-170 where I wanted it and I know I can get it to be a 171-172+ range. I feel like I need to recharge, but it's really only 2.5 months until the December test. Maybe starting back up again in October?

@Mikey I feel like I see you around these threads a lot - is this going to be your third test? It'll be mine. :( I feel like I've exhausted all modern prep material. What are you gonna do?

This is exhausting.....I just signed up for the December exam, I know I did well on RC and LR sections but I completely bombed LG....(Timing is a issue, I went -0 on almost all preptests under no time constrain, another reason why I wanted to retake----knowing you know the answer but not having enough time to complete them is killing me..)

Anyone have any idea if old preptests are good for LG? I did 42-81 already and I'm not sure going so far back into p30s is useful for LG.

Also if anyone don't mind sharing their thoughts on timing for LG....

Thanks! *cries in help*

Yes, the old tests are especially useful since they have a number of "odd" games that force you to implement the basics of diagramming and pushing out rules. In my opinion, some of the old games are the most useful for studying LG.
