Got the digital back and took the day off. Did pretty good on everything but RC so I just read the trainer outside to refresh my brain and memory.

clueless801 wrote: I actually really love the Trainer RC. I think it hit home that when you have a very limited amount of time, you need to focus on structure and author reasoning. You need to constantly question what role each part of the passage plays. I think we're so focused on trying to understand what the passages are trying to say, we forget that that it doesn't really matter that much at all once you get to the questions. I did two RCs back to back right now, and I tried to make myself understand the structure. As a result, I went through the passages much more quickly than I have in the past. The questions I got wrong were really stupid mistakes that would've been avoided with more careful reading. It's definitely work, but you guys got this!!
Thanks for this! Actually, reading my Trainer chapter and doing the drills was the highlight of my day yesterday :) I've dedicated this week to doing Trainer RC, and I'll probably finish the last section of RC Trainer in two weeks. So far, it's been life changing and incredibly helpful, so I think I am going to just stick to Trainer and forgo the Manhattan RC Guide!

I think also I am going to try and do RC sections from the 40s and 50s that I'm not hitting in my PTs, maybe 60s too. So something like doing a section from a PT of one of those tests/drilling it/BRing it.

I think I might do this too. Older test make me a little nervous (a lot of the drills in PS are really old).

I just bought the Trainer and am waiting for it to come in so hopefully I have the same progress as you :D

Any suggestions on what helped the most with LR? I'm currently using PS (which really helped with LG) but LR could still improve!

I'm struggling with formal logic in particular

I tried to see if there's anything on this thread but everyone's deleting their posts lol

What helped me most with LR was drilling by question type. But what helped once that didn't anymore was just doing sections tbh.

Formal logic isn't that bad tbh, it's pretty simple once you do it a few times. I can do like a brief LR formal logic guide type of thing for you if u want and PM it to you.

So I did a 360 degree flip, I was drilling MBT questions when I had this mini panic attack and realized that material from 1-38 is waay too old to be beneficial, plus I've already used all of the material once. SO, I switched to the 40s for drilling.

Do you guys think 40s LR is too old to be helpful for drilling? I'm planning on doing half of the 50s, most of the 60s, and 70s as PT and drilling material..

Thoughts?

I don't believe old material is too old to be beneficial. My entire LG strategy after finishing a few study books comes from drilling the hell out of 1-35. Apart from small changes like the two author passages in RC, the LR question minimum being raised from 24 to 25, and the one LR stimulus having two separate questions being removed, the old material seems just as relevant to me as anything from 50+

Also, the old games are possibly more relevant than ever since some of them were more odd and quite a few of the PTs above the 70s follow that trend.

Agree with this.
Thank you both for your responses!

I'm actually finding the 40s (currently drilling MBT) to be very easy compared to material from 1-38. If you were going to go with one over the other re: 1-38 vs 40s and first half of 50s for LR drilling material, which would you do?

Also, I plan on redrilling all LG 1-40 to keep my LG brain fresh. I've already drilled all of those games.

LR from the 40s and 50s is generally considered some of the easiest I believe.

So you would suggest using 1-38 for LR drilling material then?

sidenote: I just whizzed through the 40s MBT lol

Just registered for the September 2017 test and ready to finally go for it. I've always registered in the past but never actually taken the test. After working in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the past 7 months I've found a new love for the Law and am motivated and ready to give it my all!

For Formal Logic, I found Powerscore's chapters on logic from the LR Bible to very helpful--I think one of them was chapter 13. I went over the two chapters several times. Also, taking PTs and typing up answers to all missed LR questions and reviewing them was very helpful. Reading the question first helped me with accuracy also.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
