Sorry, man. But you know what they say : just retake.
Might want to try something like 37 hours a day next time. Endurance, you know?

Wat.

I hope someone who's applied and is in law school can chime in, but to my understanding, it might have been the case before but definitely is not the case now. At least for the top schools which only care about your highest score - it puts schools at a disadvantage for rankings purposes if they choose to average their scores. I think (if I remember correctly) if you have a wide gap between your scores, you may have to write an LSAT addendum.

UsNews allows them to report only the highest score of a student. That is all a school cares about. They may have required an average in the past. It's been a long time since I looked that up. I could be wrong but I think there was a change in the USNew methodology which allowed schools to report only the highest score.

FWIW, I underperformed but knew it coming out of the test. I completely bombed one section (although it's undisclosed so I'll never know for sure). I got exactly what I thought I would get if I didn't get lucky and guess some right. I took it for financial consideration as I already got into my choice schools, so I'm not completely screwed, but I was really hoping to double my scholarship offers with by just getting a few more questions right than last time. I guess I'll just have to swallow the enormous horse sized pill that is my future debt

All they care about is your highest score. If schools averaged i'd have been screwed and not gotten accepted/WL to most of the places I applied to in December/January.

To my knowledge, only Yale cares about retakes and Nyu claims they average but everyone says it's bullshit.

NYU is my top choice so I really, really hope that's not the case because even with a 180 I'd be screwed.

Same boat haha, nyu is first choice and the 180 thing. I don't think they average l, because lots of people on here have retaken and gotten into nyu. I also know someone who wouldn't have gotten into nyu with the money they got if they truly did average scores so I think it's ok to say they don't really do it tbh.

I don't think they do. Their LSATs are on par with everyone else from 6-14 so, if they did average then a lot of retakers must've pulled 178+.

But if they do, yeah I'm screwed too.

Yeah doubt they do. If they did, it would put them at a big disadvantage compared to their peers tbh

Well, if a person took it cold and got a 145 then studied for a year or two and pulled a 180 they would be at a 162. so with the averaging logic, they would be accepted at CC and not N.

Well, scored a fair bit below what I expected: 167, but definitely happy to be 4+ above first take. Must have done worse than expected on two last logic games. Hopefully can push to 170 in June. Not enormously concerned tho because my GPA - 3.95 - is pretty high coming out of undergrad.

I improved +4 to a 171. It's obviously doable and I remember you prepping really well too. I really hate that this is undisclosed and we don't know where we messed up. I'm still kicking myself over a couple answers in LR that I knew were silly as soon as I walked out of the testing center. An extra point or two would make a huge difference according to lsn

Hey guys I have a question I need help with. Sorry if this comes off as annoying, but I could use your guys' opinions. I'm really happy with my score (173), but I'm on the fence about retaking. My goal is any of HYS. My average over the last 5 PTs before the test was 176.7. My average over my last 10 was 175.5. I feel like I may have misread an LG rule or something careless and missed 2-3 questions somewhere in the test (I didn't feel anxious, and felt confident throughout the test). My GPA is b/t 3.93-3.95, so I'm covered on that front. Is it worth retaking? I know Asha has said she looks down on two takes, and I'm at Stanford's 75th. I just want to make sure I have the best shot possible, and LSN is honestly not the best resource here (Yale accepts a higher percentage of 174 people than 176 with my GPA per the data). Thank you:)
