When to take Prep Test? Before or after work?

Post by calmike » Thu Jul 07, 2016 10:55 pm

Hello,

I work from 9am-4pm. I plan to take prep tests soon for the Sep/Oct LSAT.

Should I take the test from 5:30am to 8:30am or 4:30pm to 7:30pm?

What would you do?

At the beginning it doesn't matter. As you get closer to test day try to take them at the same time of your actual LSAT. One of my LSATS was at 9 am, the other at 1 pm. Find out when yours is administered.

If you aren't fresh after work, but are in the early morning, take them in the morning. Come test day, you will be fresh for the test

Seconded above. I took my exams after work, usually also after overtime, and it was exhausting

Before. You wouldn't want something unexpected to ruin your mood or focus.

Generally it's a good idea to take the exam in the morning when you would actually be taking it on test day. BUT. I would occasionally mix it up and take one at night. Put yourself in that difficult situation of being really tired from a long day, and forcing yourself to focus. It's another form of training. Come test day, you will be tired and worn out as the exam comes to a close, and that occasional practice of taking an exam in the evening can help train you to maintain that focus when it matters most.
