Hey, Connor.

I recommend drilling a couple of each of those weaknesses, as that got me a bit more familiar with how they function.

I used to suck at SA, but I realized they always have conditionality,
so I'd either draw it out or, if it's easy enough, keep it in my head,
then scan the ACs for something that matches the outcome/conclusion.
For example, the stimulus would read something like...
"All Saiyans can enhance their power levels; thus, Vegeta can enhance his power level."
What's missing? Well, if I map this out, it'd turn out to be S -> EPL.
It must be that Vegeta is a Saiyan! That satifies the sufficient condition.

For NA, it is slightly different;
you wanna look for choices that aren't too extreme, something that passes a negation test.
A simple example...
"With two Z-Fighters left, Yamcha has a higher chance than Krillin of physically beating Frieza."
What HAS to be the case? In other words, what NEEDS to be assumed?
Does one have to assume that Yamcha is faster than Krillin? Not really.
Does one have to assume that Frieza will go down with just one more blow? Nope.
Does one have to assume that Yamcha can land a hit on the enemy? Absolutely.
Try negating it; if he cannot even touch Frieza, how in the world would he begin to defeat him physically?

Strengthen and weaken questions are two sides of the same coin.
J.Y. says it best... "You don't ever attack Goku."
Confused? You should be, but it's fun looking at it from that angle.
Think of Goku as the PREMISE, his Kamehameha as the SUPPORT, and whatever he is directing the beam towards is the CONCLUSION.
If the beam is huge, that means there is a lot of support that Goku, the premise, is giving the conclusion, strengthening it.
The smaller it is, the weaker the support. In these question types, you wanna look for something that expands or reduces the beam.
Do not ever pick a choice that goes after a premise or conclusion.
Example...
Piccolo is charging his ultimate move while Goku distracts the foe; therefore, Piccolo must be trying to kill Raditz.
An AC that says "Piccolo never resorts to his strongest ability" or "Piccolo is not a murderer" is WRONG.
An AC that says "Piccolo despises Raditz" strengthens, even by just a little, because that hatred gives him a motive to kill.
An AC that says "Piccolo has no problem with Raditz and loathes Goku" gives doubt that Piccolo wishes to kill Raditz; maybe he's after his partner!
HTH.

PS. If you don't get any of these references, I'm sorry about your childhood.

Don't forget to register ;)
Me too! Re: making the RC easier in December! I found 7Sage's memory method and the Manhattan RC Guide really helped me out with RC. That said, I haven't done RC in awhile so I have no idea how I'll be when I pick it up again!

I had this problem in September (eventually withdrew). What I ended up doing was registering for a center 2 hours away and checking back almost everyday, literally 1.5 months before the test a spot near me opened up. Don't fear I'm sure once the LSAT is released i.e. scores and ppl get antsy they'll start dropping out..

Oooooh good shout, completely forgot that. Booked the 3-hour away TC as a precaution, and hoping that a spot will open up after grey day.

September taker here checking in for a retake- pretty sure I bombed but that's fine, it's just giving me a rage fueled motivation. Here's my new strategy:

LG- Only do 1 timed game a day- but really dissect that game. Go through why each answer choice is right, see if I can split the game board/solve for all possibilities, look for new inferences- just completely own the game. I can handle any of the standard games but I need to get faster- especially if there's going to be another non-standard game in December, I'll need tons of time. I'm gonna compile all the weird old ones like Zephyr and try and get a handle on them. Maybe incorporate some non-LSAT logic puzzles, idk.

RC prep- I didn't do any formal study for RC, just timed sections or sections as part of an overall practice test. It gave me really inconsistent results, half the time I'd get -1 or -2 but the other half I'd get -4. If anyone has any recommendations for good RC books let me know.

LR- similar to LG fewer questions with deeper analysis of why each is right/wrong. I don't encounter any time issues on this section and I'm usually good for -1, -2 overall but I need this at -0 to -1 consistently.

Basically, I'm planning for the possibility that there's another non-standard game I can't really solve beyond maybe 1 or 2 questions. I need RC and LG to be airtight to carry my score.

After cursing the lsat, canceling my score mid-section, and vowing never to take the exam again. I realize I'd really like to raise my score from 167 to 170. Are there any recommended strategies for test takers that have exhausted nearly all prep material?

The good part about canceling is that I pretty much have a fresh preptest 79 to use

Yeah - I feel you. TBH, I'd be at ease if I could just know which of my LRs were real, but no chance I remember which questions were which.

For everyone in this thread, make sure you do as many recent games as you can and try to understand underlying mechanics. The weird games seem to be here to stay.

Oh Hofstra was a pretty good center if you are on LI or the good NYC ones fill up.

I'm not sure if there is an advantage to getting to the test center early at all. A girl from my class was one of the first people on the check in line. I was near the 3/4th mark, and our room also had people from farther back from me.

Long story short, that girl from my class must have been in the test room for like 30 minutes prior to any of the test instructions and filling stuff out.
