Hell, there was a 180, 3.5 ENGINEER (thereby justifying the lower than usual GPA) who was rejected by Yale and Stanford.
What? That sucks.

180, 3.6X rejected by Yale, Stanford and Berkeley.
What does it take to get into these schools? I mean honestly. A family friend recently scored a perfect score on the ACT, had a 4.3 at some local prestigious magnet school (but it wasn't an over-the-top boarding school in the northeast seaboard area), a plethora of strong softs but she was denied from Duke undergrad, wait listed at Harvard, and denied from Brown (or maybe Dartmouth? Idk I forget). The only thing she could come up with was that she didn't play a sport throughout high school. It's somewhat ridiculous.
I think a lot of those schools need a very solid recommend from someone 'powerful'. Also, legacy kids get in a lot easier than regular.

I don't think the recommender needs to be powerful, but the content though. http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/18866.htm

+2.2

Spent all of my time freshman year in rehearsal for theater and ended up with a 1.9 GPA. Transferred to a junior college and got my GPA high enough to transfer to state university. Got a 3.4 at the university where I ended up graduating, but my LSDAS GPA is going to be somewhere around 3.0.

I need a 175+ if I want to get into my schools of choice.
I feel your pain. I'm in a very similar situation. I have decided that no matter what, I will take as many classes, LSAT's, and extra softs necessary for admittance to my target schools.

Idk about grad / law school but my 3 best friends went to Harvard, Yale, and Stanford for their UG. They all came out of a public high school in southern Illinois - all had perfect ACT's and 4.0's (on a 4 scale)
But I think what set them apart was that their extra curriculars included national rankings - one was nationally ranked in tennis and chess, one was national chemistry and physics champion, and one was national mathematics and tennis champion.

There are lots of kids with perfect scores and GPA's and tons of softs these days, so I think it might have to be something pretty extraordinary - outside of being a legacy - to set you apart and gain admission to T3-5 schools?? Just a guess

Is there a time of day that LSAC has consistently released scores, or a consistent time of day that LSAC watchers (i.e. you fucking weirdos) have known that scores will be released on that day?

In other words, if it's still green at X am EST, can you just forget about it until X am EST the next day?

UG admission is becoming ridiculous if it isn't so already. You have parents dropping 40k to consultants who promise to guide their child throughout high school so as to ensure admission to one of those prestigious universities.

From discussions it looks like commonly released mid-late afternoon EST and can go into the 8-10 PM EST sometimes.
