I get the feeling that a decent number of engineers go into Law. There's quite a few of us in this thread also.

The problem is not enough lurkers post during business hours, AKA the thread's best time

I'm pretty sure all this job discussion started when told me that dual degrees are useless and then suggested I shouldn't even go to law school unless I want to do big law. I think think it's both naive and very odd to suggest that non biglaw jobs are a waste of a law degree. I realize the job market for law grads isn't exactly rainbows and unicorns, but I think if you're willing to travel outside of the biglaw-oriented markets of NY, SF, Chicago, etc., there are available jobs for those that work for them. There are literally thousands of people that need legal assistance in the US, and there are jobs available to those that want to help them. I've spent enough time in the legal world (I don't need people telling me I'm wrong... just save it and let me wallow in my poor judgment if that's what you think) to know that the job market isn't nearly as crap as some people suggest, especially if you have a degree from a decent school and/or a desire to work hard.

AAANYWAY. Let's please not talk about that anymore. I have a real legitimate question for people. Hopefully it won't incite a riot or whatever. I would appreciate some real answers that don't involve letting me know I'm wasting my life.

I've seen that taking the LSAT more than once isn't looked unfavorably upon by most law schools (I think I've heard Yale is the possible exception). However, I'm interested in the converse: Is taking the LSAT just once looked at favorably at all? Or nah?

It really doesn't matter outside of HYS (and mostly Y). If you score really high on just one take it may be a feather on the scale, especially if you have a lower GPA, but it doesn't matter much.

pretty sure they don't care either way. All they care about is what they can report to USNWR.

What is everyone's list of "reach" and "safety" schools they're applying to?

Reach: Havard (somewhat of a chance) and Yale(no chance)
target: Colombia, NYU, Duke, Georgetown, Cornell, Chicago
Safety: Chapel Hill, Wake forest

Does this mean you are a resident of NC?

yep, born and raised in the greater Charlotte area.

Crunched some numbers. Nothing too complex but average "released days early" below...

June Average 3.545454545
All Date Average 3.659090909

Trends for the June release date (wish I could just paste the graph I made in Excel) but...
Jun-04 4 days early
Jun-05 2 days early
Jun-06 4 days early
Jun-07 2 days early
Jun-08 4 days early
Jun-09 4 days early
Jun-10 3 days early
Jun-11 2 days early
Jun-12 4 days early
Jun-13 4 days early
Jun-14 6 days early

So I think it would be reasonable to expect a release date between 4 and 5 days early. My best guess would be that we will see our scores coming through either on Thursday, July 2 or Friday, July 3. Hope this helps!

Yeah returning to the MPA + JD discussion, I don't understand the point - if you're using your MPA, you're not using your JD, and vice versa.

More than anything this is a function of when they determine the scheduled release date to be, which is largely irrelevant.

What you should look at is how long it takes to get the scores back for the June tests. The last few years have all been 21 days, and before that 22 days. I would be very surprised if we did not get scores back by next Tuesday, and I'm guessing Monday.

We encourage lurkers to post, tell them its a safe space, then fight with them for 5 pages

Is it really a lurker safe space because it feels pretty hostile

It is not. I can confirm lurkers gotta be tough skinned to make the jump to shitpoaster.
