My September 2014 score came at night (I think around 9pm, give or take). I also remember it crashing the LSAC website.

Do you get to read his LOR or is it hidden from your view? What if you thought that you were tight with some professor and then he sends in a LOR talking crap? haha worst. nightmare. ever.

I kept it hidden. Although this professor did suggest a change in careers to another cadet by giving him a McDonald's application instead of a grade on the first paper we ever turned in. So maybe asking him to write my recommendation letter wasn't the best idea...

While we're talking about LOR, I have a question... so I've been taking a lot of law classes at my school, not really for any purpose other than that I'm genuinely interested in the subject matter and want to take the courses. These are also the courses in which I have the best rapport with my professors, and I think they'd write me the best letters. However, I'm worried that law schools will see the courses and think "oh this guy is just getting his lawyer professors to write to us" like I'm trying to give them what I think they want to see or something. Am I being...

...

...neurotic?

My school is an engineering school so they shun all of the law related classes into Polisci anyway lol

Whether or not I feel like editing out quotes depends on how urgently I think I need to correct someone's misconceptions.

How ironic.

If you read your letter before you submit it, law schools give it less weight because they assume that if you truly thought that professor thought well of you, you wouldn't be concerned about reading it.

Again, if you're worried about it being poorly written, dishonest, etc. ASK SOMEONE ELSE.

Don't you think that is a stretch of an assumption? You are telling me you are 100% confident that every single one of your LOR are going to put 100% effort and a lot of time into recommending you for law school; even though, in general, professors have absolutely no incentive to do so?

Maybe you just want to read them because you simply want to read what they wrote?

Another reason I could think of is if you can read a letter before sending it, that means you will only send the absolute best. So you could have asked for 10 LORs, and only sent the best 2, which means they are unrepresentative.

Haven't even started asking for LORs yet so I don't even know if that's possible, but if it is, I'd be wary of someone who can read his LORs.

What's the proper etiquette for asking someone to write you an LOR? An email? What did you all say to your LOR people when you requested?

Also...is the uploading process something I can find directions for on LSAC or nah

There are kosher ways of asking if your professor is willing to write a positive reflection of your work effort. I think it behooves a professor to do their best or to tell you that they have no ability or intention of writing a LOR. Sometimes professors get backed up with previous LORs and turn you down. Simply stated: ask your professor if he/she is willing to write a positive recommendation for you before you send them the link.

Recommenders can also see if you have waived your right in this, making some of them less inclined to dote on you or more weary of what they write maybe not reflecting upon you as best as they can. Also, if you want to read what they wrote, don't take the chance of getting snuffed on your applications. Ask the professor if they would be willing to share their recommendation letter with you privately once they have submitted it or once you have sent out your applications.
