Can't really complain about peace and tranquility, but internet forum throwdowns are just so entertaining. My high school has an alumni page on Facebook which is basically just a vehicle for violent disagreement and personally I can't get enough of it. From the sidelines, anyways. Rule number one of internet fights is that they're only fun as a witness.buckiguy_sucks wrote:We're all about peace and tranquility while waiting, today has been an anomalyoldercoldervoice wrote:I came back here expecting a good old-fashioned fight and I have to say I'm sorely disappointed

Re: The Official June 2015 Waiter's Thread
True story: I went on a tour at a T14 law school and while we were waiting for our guide to show up one guy turned to someone else in the group and started (loudly) bragging about his 179. We were waiting in a library, too.Ash3460 wrote: I read something written by a 180 scorer that said the worst part about a 180 is that no one cares (I'm totally paraphrasing). Basically your friends don't get it, after you are admitted no one walks around talking about their scores, and it's really worthless when you start working. So this thing that we have been obsessed with for so long, if accomplished, doesn't matter in the real world. So hopefully everyone gets what they are aiming for just so they can have the satisfaction of fulfilling a goal. But to assign some kind of selfworth to a meaningless number is just fooling yourself.

Chicago. Idk what the point of bragging was; it's not like it's that rare for someone considering Chicago to have a 179. He wasn't going to impress anyone.EnderWiggin wrote:which T14?oldercoldervoice wrote:True story: I went on a tour at a T14 law school and while we were waiting for our guide to show up one guy turned to someone else in the group and started (loudly) bragging about his 179. This got me thinking. Do any of you plan on visiting lawl schools that you're considering before you're close to the critical decision-making stage? I.e. within the next 6 months, if you're applying during the upcoming cycle.

Fwiw, I was only visiting Chicago because I'm from the area - so it was kind of just a "hey why not" thing. I don't plan to go out of my way to make any other visits, and honestly, for anyone else considering it, I didn't find the visit particularly helpful or informative this early in the game.EnderWiggin wrote:This got me thinking. Re: The Official June 2015 Waiter's Thread
Not impugning your judgment in doing a visit. I've also done one because it was convenient. I'm interested in how other people approach this with law schools though, as compared to UG. I was a big proponent of visiting the campuses of UG I was considering because of that "feel" factor. But that intangible "this feels right" is not something I foresee factoring heavily into my eventual law school decision and so the value of visiting (at least before an ASW/ASD) seems to be minimal. Plus, finding time for the grand college tour rite of passage seemed easier as a rising HS senior than it does now.oldercoldervoice wrote:Fwiw, I was only visiting Chicago because I'm from the area - so it was kind of just a "hey why not" thing. Yes, my boyfriend and I are looking at going to DC and North Carolina for vacation in July, and we are probably going to swing by UVA and Duke while in the area. Like you said in your followup post, I don't think how the campus "feels" to me is going to factor into my decision, but since boyfriend will be moving with me for law school I'd like to have his opinion on which city he prefers.EnderWiggin wrote:This got me thinking.
