What is the best way to prep for the test in this period of time? I'm doing pithypike's method.

How many hours would you say must be dedicated to studying the LSAT and getting 170+? I think around 400+ hours?

Yikes, way to make me realize I need to start doing something. Headed back from out of state work trip tomorrow, I guess saturday will be the big start (again). 400 would probably do it, I'm looking for a 10 point increase in what I got so I"m shooting for 200 hours +whatever I can in my free time.

Although we only have 100 days left (which is still plentiful), the best thing anyone of you can do is not freak out or have this test stress you out 24/7.

I say that because it happened to me. Yup. Two whole months of stressing out and freaking out, and at the same time, not studying--i.e. Not even opening up a PrepTest to drill or even reading a page from an LSAT book--because I felt like I would never make it, that I would never be capable of breaking 170.

Then I completely altered my method of study, and started doing other things besides LSAT after and before going to work.

I started working out. I started hanging out with family and friends. I started watching WWII videos on YouTube for hours, just for fun! And finally, I started getting more than 6 hours of sleep a day. And that was when I stopped stressing out 24/7, and subsequently, started seeing significant gains--breaking 170 on more than 5 PrepTests.

So please don't freak out. Go do something fun! And if your method ain't working, just remember: "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Easy way to keep yourself calm during prep while maintaining production is finding leisure methods that inadvertently assist in prep. Read books instead of watching TV, take up things like sudoku and the like. These types of things can become great distractions when you're burnt out from prep, while still helping to prepare your mindfor the type of thinking required for the lsat

I totally understand as I also do get very tired after work and studying is the last thing on my mind. I have set my schedule to get up at 4am and study from 5am to 8am during the weekdays then head to the gym after work.
Good luck with your preparation!

so i just drilled the inclusive fitness passage in pt-56 and didn't feel good about it at all. i have done this passage before a long time ago so it should have been easier. when i was done reading the passage, i thought understood it but the first main point question Q8 had me re-reading several parts of the passage. none of the answer choices seemed good to me, i eliminated all. Eventually picked D before moving on. i must have spent about 3 minutes on this question alone.

the questions felt very tricky. for example, in the last question q15, it took me a long time to eliminate choices D and E. while these choices are not directly related to kin recognition, it still took me time to reason through why they could be eliminated. in the end, it took me 3:50 minutes to read the passage initially and then i finished all 8 questions for it at 12:30 min mark.

those who get like -0 on RC, do you reason through these choices faster which cuts down your overall time? anyone do this passage recently, how was your experience about it?
interested to know if the -0 RCers do this passage differently or run into different issues than i did.

i mean, 12:30 min for a passage where i clearly spent 3 min on the main point is pretty bad even after all the drilling i have done. the passage when i read it felt ok, but the questions kept stumping me till the end.
i just BRed the whole passage again and it still took me 10:50 minutes.

Highlight of my day: completed dinosaurs game in 9 minutes my first attempt and only -1

Does anyone else feel very little motivation to do anything else besides study? Like I almost quit my job and dropped my summer class because everything else I have going on seems so pointless. It sucks to think about how much you could improve if you could actually treat the LSAT like a full time job :/

Just keep drilling. It will click eventually. Is there a specific problem you are having with weaken questions?

I'd start taking a PT/week with blind review now, while continuing to drill. You always want to be drilling. Around August bump up the amount to 2 or 3 PTs a week with blind review. Beware of burn out though, and take a break or scale the amount back if you need it.

PT 33

LR (-1)
RC (-5)
LR (-3)
LG (-0)

174

Currently my highest score so far. What is odd is that I pulled an all nighter drilling, and then took the PracticeTest...

Well done! Maybe you got your second wind and became super focused?

I've been drilling the Weaken packet and Miscellaneous Games today.

Ha I don't know. After I finished the PrepTest, I felt like I blew it and didn't even crack 150. And the few times I feel like I aced a PrepTest, I've gotten my lowest scores.

I agree. So annyoing. Right before I took the Feb 2014 LSAT my game speed/accuracy was so fast. Started studying in June and my speed is gone. It takes like a month to get the speed back.

So RC has been a struggle for me. but I think I finally, after a year and a half of on and off studying, am seeing improvements in my RC. I have realized that you need to read for the forest. The questions are about the trees and the forest, but once you can give a one sentence summary on each of the paragraphs, finding and figuring out the answer to the specific questions is much easier.
