The variables that you can't control make it so damn dangerous for anyone. Avalanches, weather in general, huge sheets of ice crushing you, pulmonary and cerebral edema, someone else fucking up, etc.

This sounds so exhilarating though.

Freezing is supposed to be a great way to die, and falling off a cliff in hypoxic euphoria probably isn't that bad either.

ETA: We're totally going to make it to 180 pages lol

 Your lungs and skull filling with water sounds exhilarating? Fuck that. I'll stick to bagging 14ers.

For me, the scariest thing is hypoxic irrational behavior... you can't even trust your own mind at that altitude.

This too. There was a show on the Discovery channel that followed one of the teams that takes folks up yearly and they had the right plan. The "leader" stayed at base camp and tracked/monitored the whole climb. By staying down there his judgement wouldn't be compromised and he could make the right call. Still folks basically said, "you're way down there, make me" and continued to do dumb shit that should have gotten them killed.

It's been 50s and 60s all week here and it is GLORIOUS. Can't stand hot weather.

A perfect world would have fall weather year round.

Don't get me wrong, dying while on a climb would really suck, but I still think it would be worth it. The risk is worth the reward, basically.

That being said, I really freaking hate the cold. Id be such a bitch the entire way because it.

Thank god, I'd take the cold any day. Hate wearing shorts, but didn't wanna be burning up on test day.

This is not the correct answer.

I was so prepared with what I'd wear: shorts, a t shirt, a hoodie, and chacos. But now it's going to be cold, so if I wear chacos my feet will be cold, plus today I froze in just my hoodie. So now I have to wear uncomfortable shoes to keep warm and a bunch of layers that aren't as comfortable as my hoodie. Humph.

Nothing felt better than a 20 or 30 degree day with no humidity (there's never really humidity out in WY), the wind still, and the sun shining in Wyoming. Felt amazing. I would open the windows to the house.

I saw the first UGGs of the season today. They're still hideous.

Fahrenheit. With no wind and the sun it really felt like a perfect 55-60 degrees.

Now the night it got to -55, that was cold.

Can you imagine all the shitboomers who never even had to take the LSAT for law school? I bet Obama wouldn't break 170.

Obama had like a 172 (no source I just read it somewhere once. So I'm probably wrong).

I don't want to start an affirmative action flame war, but if you play around on MyLSN.info you'll see that black applicants don't even need 170 for HLS.

Is the URM boost really news to anyone?

Well I was kinda pointing out that Obama isn't a good example of a boomer with a low score because even today he could get like 168 and still make HLS.

Got curious and found this, apparently his score was between 166-171. His GPA was way below median though at 3.5.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government ... sat-score/

Did you just link to Breitbart for something regarding Obama?

The 94-98% cited would correllate more accurately to 167-172. And the GPA is notably low in consideration of today's medians, but should be compared to Harvard's medians in 1987/8.

This is what concerns me about places like umich.
As much as I'd probably love the school. Yeah.

I grew up in Detroit metro, and I never really thought the winters were that bad. Southeastern Michigan doesn't get a huge amount of snow, and while it does get cold, it rarely gets really, really cold.

Yeah it's just that random day where it's -55 and your pipes freeze...

I skied in -20. Got frostbite on the back of my ear lol.

Ann Arbor did have it's worst winter in a long time this past winter. Climate change yo.
