Thinking back to last year when I took the LSAT, I remember kind of thinking "even if I don't get my goal score and score below it that will be good", and then I did exactly that.. and I was pretty disappointed. I think its important to stay confident and truly think you deserve the score you have in your head.. I think letting the pressure lower my expectations screwed with me mentally (not wholly blaming this on my bad score in December). Trying to be concious of how / what I'm thinking about on the actual day of Saturday.

For the people getting 170s:

1.How much time did you have to study to reach 170?
2. What was your method of study? (Packets, course, PTs):
3. What helped you the most to get out of the 160s?
4. Any advice to get to the 170s?

I'd really appreciate any advice since I've been in the 160s for months. I BR around 175 but I always bomb a section when timed. :'(

Yes, and I laughed a lot. The only thing worse than making a stupid mistake is drawing attention to it days later!

This is the most accurate thing ever. I yelled at the SO like a week ago when I was stressed and he said "you'll do great! You studied!" for the 500th time.

I was planning on doing some sections today but I only made it through ten 10 LR questions before I just started zoning out and feeling lazy. Probably a good time to just wait it out until Saturday

5 weeks. Four weeks for my first take, then started hitting 170 a week into my prep for a second.
2. What was your method of study? (Packets, course, PTs):
LG Bible, LSAT Trainer, Manhattan LG, LR, RC, Difficult Games, Maybe 12-15 full-timed PTs.
3. What helped you the most to get out of the 160s?
Starting with a 165 cold diagnostic and dialing in LG.
4. Any advice to get to the 170s?
Nicotine patches. 14mg. Don't be obsessed with following the methods and systems which work for other people, figure out what works for you.

Just keep drilling and doing timed sections, working under stressful conditions. I've scored 175+ once, and never BRed that high.

I use them because I can't afford the medication for a chronic condition ($300-$700/month, and that's with insurance). Nicotine works as an anti-inflammatory so it covers some of the symptoms -- the LSAT improvement was one hell of a bonus.

Never really smoked, aside from a minor months-long affair with cloves in undergrad.

I quit bothering with BR during prep for my second take. Didn't seem to help, didn't have any new insights. I think I generally just won't let go of an AC once I've settled upon it. Dropped my score a few times, went +2 once. I know BR is usually TCR around here, but like I said, didn't work for me, so I let it go and focused on other ways to prep.

1. 3.5 months
2. Every single PT up to 75 (Timed about half of them), Manhattan RC+LR, PowerScore LG
3. The Manhattan LR book
4. Find a study partner.

I don't think I technically count as one of these, since I've only gotten above 170 a couple of times, but...

1. A while...started feb 2012 with a 154 diag, studied 2 weeks; started at 155 in feb 2014, studied 3 weeks; started at 159 in Sept 2014, studied until Dec 2014; started with a 164 end of July, have studied from then until now, so 2 months.
2. I've done everything, but I found self studying to be the most useful. I've taken Testmasters and didn't think it added anything. Started 7sage and wasn't at all impressed. Self studied with basically every book, but I found the Manhattan RC and LR guides and PSB LG to be the most helpful.
3. My couple scores in the 170s have definitely been due to confidence and being relaxed.
4. Chill out. Take a break occasionally. Drill, drill, drill. Don't get too in your head about it.

Like Prodigal said, high diagnostic plus LG drilling. I got a 164 diagnostic, left the LSAT alone for a year, then got 166 on a semi-diagnostic when I started studying again, and then jumped to 174 after some marathon sessions of LG drilling.

If you're not BRing at 179+ consistently, you should probably focus on untimed drills and really understanding what's going on. Speed will come with understanding. For LR, I've only done a handful of timed drills, but now my untimed drills usually end up being -0 in around 30 minutes.

Is anyone else anti-watch/timekeeping device?

I never rely on a watch/clock when taking a timed test. I rely solely on the 5-minute warning for pacing.
