Well, it's good practice for worst case scenario on game dayMint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Almost lost it in the library today.
I'm there for like an hour reviewing things. Then I decide to take a test, and suddenly it's "hey let's all have really loud conversations". First this lady right behind me starts having a crisis, and had to call tech support for something with her computer. Instead of like going to the main foyer/ cafe area she has to yell at tech support in the quiet area. You're 45 (ish), you're a fully functioning adult. It amazes me that that's not inappropriate for you.
Your computer is a laptop, it's like, designed to be portable. After about 40 minutes she moves, and is replaced by a bunch high schoolers who also seem to have missed the common courtesy lesson. To make it worse, they're spending most of their time trying to convince one of the girls in the group NOT to go to Harvard undergrad. My whole reading comp section I'm just thinking repeatedly, "why are you ruining your friends future. Why are you ruining your friends future".

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
The library at my school is awesome, super quiet, easy to get a lot of work done.
I'm home for the summer though, and the library in this city is absolutely horrible. Young children are running around like it's a public play area. Hobos come in and take naps for hours without anyone noticing or caring.
For the time being, I'm grinding it out at home any chance I get. I can't wait to move back to school though, the distractions here are definitely annoying.

I was going to PT today but instead I am drilling flaw, parallel reasoning and principle identify questions. These question types are giving me the most trouble. Hopefully I can see some gains on these when I PT tomorrow.

Drilling weakening problems at the Starbucks around the corner today. I'm very glad I bought ear plugs. This music is weird.

Really finding these wrong answers on logical reasoning stand out when you lock in on the conclusion of the argument.

Thanks.
On a slightly more worrisome note, my polisci MS has apparently convinced the US Navy I'm a strong candidate for becoming a nuke engineering officer.

What concentration in polisci? I started my MS in polisci focusing on political theory, but never finished.

I've been skipping around, from the early 40 PT's - 60's in order to avoid tunnel vision.
Took PT 64 today and went: LR -2, LG -1, LR -0, RC, -2 = -5 (177)
Considering just three months ago I was trying to claw my way into the high 160's/low 170's, I'm pretty satisfied.

I can't really describe it, it just seems like the logical errors in each answer stand out a little more. (For me) I find myself going over answers, and being able to accurately predict a reason why the answer was wrong.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Just took PT 65 finally broke the 170 mark! Very pleased right now.
Score: 173
LR1: -4
LG: -3
RC: -1
LR2: -2
Still lots work to do, and that -3 on LG irks me but overall I'm pretty happy. I'm taking the rest of the day off and drinking a few beers.
ETA: I also drank way less coffee this morning than usual, so maybe that was a problem in the past.
