Closing the last 5 points

Postby peke » Fri Feb 20, 2015 8:17 pm

175 seems to be a common plateau on TLS and I definitely feel stuck on it with no edge in sight. I'm curious to hear for those who were in the same situation, what clicked that allowed you to close those last 5 points? Just want to see if I share any of the same issues.

I understand everyone approaches the test differently but in the end it's still the same test and we can all adopt different approaches. I want to PT close to perfect so I have a larger margin to fall.

it just really depends on the person. that's why i don't think u'll get many helpful responses. presumably u'd know if u had some specific question type that hurt u, so perhaps the problem is test psychology? one thing i did differently my second round of studying was forced myself to never give myself any leeway in testing. so if i decided i was going to take a test on a certain day i wouldn't let myself quit if i didn't feel quite on that day. over time that helped me feel a lot more confident as i knew that i could get through a test even when feeling off.

i don't know if there is some problem that specifically plagues people at the 175 point, but i would guess that in any case treating each PT like an actual test would help.

A better question is how much those last 5 points actually matter. To adcoms, the difference between 179 and 175 is probably less than the difference between 170 and 172.

There's also a matter of luck to getting a 180. Look up Robin Singh's stats... even a professional LSAT tutor only gets 180s about half the time.
