I've been to the NYC lot at Universal so many times by now that I can pick out a show or movie filmed there in seconds.

Scientific fact: watching the Office and drinking beer makes the time go by faster.

Ugh, it unnaturally angers me when shows that are set in NYC don't film here. In part because it's good revenue for the city. But, it's just so apparent on a show like Suits that they are not actually in the city; it's like they don't even try to make it look remotely authentic.

At least we have Good Wife here, using us as substitute for Chicago. We love you TGW!

I was just having a conversation the other day about how big a difference it makes when a production films on location. Portlandia is a great example, the atmosphere of the city really helps push their brand of comedy.

I so agree. I really wish more shows /movies were filmed on location. I love Portlandia. Also the TV Series Grimm is shot in Portland and set there so that's awesome. I don't mind shows shot in BC Canada when they pretend it's Seattle or Portland even if I'd prefer them to be filmed on location.

I'll say this at least Toronto is a big city - pretending a small town is NYC would be terrible. It's ridiculous when they film things in Vancouver that are supposed to be in extremely different climates. Like Psych for example is set in Santa Barbara - a very sunny, dry climate - but filmed in Vancouver / BC. My mother loves Psych but it's her pet peeve that it was not filmed in LA or Santa Barbara.

What did everyone eat for din din tonight?

Shrimp, grits, over easy egg, scallions.

ETA: And my LSAT feelings.

Had a fun birthday today. CE made me breakfast, he bought me the series Human Planet, a new boardgame I can't remember the name of, and a record player as well as an Arcade Fire vinyl record, and speakers.

Then we hung together all day and then later went out to dinner with his family to a place I found off Yelp. It was a Hawaiian restaurant and the food was delicious. CE had a Kahlua Pork Moco which is rice topped with smoky Kahlua Pork, a fried egg, and gravy on top. I tasted some of his and it was delicious. I had a combo plate which had Shoyu Chicken and Shoyu Steak, Spam Fried Rice, and Tuna Macaroni Salad. Also I had a Lomi Salmon side salad which is very similar to pico de gallo with smoked salmon. My dinner was delicious as well. Then for dessert we all had a piece of Rainbow cake which is a Hawaiian take on those Chinese whipped cream cakes. It had layers of fruit ganache, whipped cream, and layers of fluffy cake. One cake layer was strawberry with guava ganache, another layer lime with lime, and one layer of orange cake with passion fruit ganache. Also very delicious and I'm happy with my choice.

If I hadn't went with the Hawaiian place I was going to go to a Southern restaurant and I was going to have Shrimp with Grits because I've never had Shrimp with Grits but I think I'd love it. I've had really good grits before but it was served with a really thick pork chop. Those grits were so cheesy and creamy, they were one of the most tasty things I've ever eaten in my life. So now I'm hoping all well made grits are going to be that tasty and it's become a minor goal to have Shrimp and Grits sometime soon.

I haven't listened to Shep Smith's commentary yet on the Llama situation but I will tomorrow. I'm too sleepy at the moment.

I love Shep Smith he is too just funny / weird. He acts like he is on a channel that no one watches, like at Robin's news station in How I Met Your Mother. He says some of the weirdest shit and he loves to bring up True Blood at completely random moments. He's just great.

Morning, been lurking on this thread forever now, but I finally have in, since I am bored in a cubicle at work at 7am and the LSAT agony is slowly killing me.

And the waiting game continues.

FEBRUARY 2015 LSAT SCORES

will not be released on Friday February 27, 2015. Yes, we can now make that prediction with full confidence.
