Well, right now it's 57 degrees and the sun is shining so sometimes those "cold dreary" days make up for it. We're just more cloudy really. It's only colder in the summer (when it only hits mid 70s to 80s most of the time) and its warmer in the winter. The weather is going to be the thing I miss most.

Honestly, the only thing I find dreary is the job placement of our best law school.

I think the Mountain West has the best weather. Denver, for example, doesn't get too hot, can get pretty cold, but it's dry so really hot or cold doesn't feel that bad. Also, there's 300+ days of sunshine and little precipitation.

My favorite thing to do in the snow is when it's snowing to go outside when it's dark. I like how the sky always seems so light and close to the ground and I love the way things sound. Everything seems magical and full of possibility. I love to go under street lights to twirl in the snow and try to catch specific snowflakes in my mouth.

I also loved sledding as a kid because there are very steep hills near my parents house - if you get enough momentum you can actually go down two steep hills in a row though the bottom hill ends in a semi busy street. :P

Also when I was a kid my parents would always take us on the sled to the local pizza place a few blocks away. They had huge good slices of pizza that you could buy by the slice and root beer on tap and a fireplace. But then we had a snow drought for quite a few years and then the pizza place closed down. :( By the time I was in middle school no more fun winter pizza trips. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

We actually don't get much more rain when you compare us to other parts of the country - parts of the South get more annual rain than us - but we tend to be really cloudy most of the year except for summer and early fall. During the summer and early fall we are actually less cloudy than the northern half of the East Coast. We have very sunny summers that are the perfect temperature.

Though that's Western WA and OR, I don't count SF because of the shape of their bay they tend to be much more cloudy and colder than us in the summer.

Yeah but you're comparing incessant mist/drizzle to thunderstorms that are a lot of rain and them they're done.

I know the Seattle talking points, girlllllll. You can't pull the wool over rigo's eyes.

Haha yeah. :P Damn Rigo you are too smart and knowledgeable for your own good. You saw through my trap.

Okay yeah the constant drizzle and cloudiness of Winter and most of Fall and Spring does get annoying but in Seattle we never have winters that feel 0 f and below like in NYC.

And we rarely have summer days that are so hot that you need air conditioning and we are usually tank tops and shorts weather half of July, all of August, and early September.

But yeah Rigo our weather sucks. Stay away. CoL is getting too high since everyone is moving here. http://www.geekwire.com/2014/seattle-na ... wing-city/

Yeah I have an aunt in Denver so I've been quite a few times. I really like their weather there though it sometimes is a little too hot and a little too cold for my tastes. Places in the Rockies and West all tend to be fairly dry rather than humid. In Seattle we usually only have a few summer days that are humid feeling. Everywhere East of the Rockies tends to have humidity issues unfortunately.

I actually love the rain I just wish winter wasn't usually all rain and no snow or cloudy almost every day. Though this winter has been very sunny because of the El Nino effect but it worries me because there will probably be a drought this summer.

Also as much as I love the Pacific Ocean and the Sound I actually prefer the mountains. I really love our mountains but the Rockies are great! :D

ETA: storpapa Lol about 1 inch rain = 10 inches snow. You must really hate rain... or really love rain?

I'll trade you. You can have West Texas starry skies for the next two weeks and my puppy and I can have mounds of snow.

The cold was brutal last night

I wore a jacket ... and gloves wasn't that bad. SO I have that going for me. Its supposed to be cold in the winter, its part of the excitement of holding hands and wearing colorful scarves over otherwise plain black or tan coats
