When determining COL, how much would be appropritate to plan on taking out when examining options? Obviously SO will have income, but not sure how much yet. Is it better to plan on overtaking for the first year and then adjusting?

Okay my friend got back to me. You should watch and see what congress does this summer with the proposed LRAP/PSLF overhaul.
The only T14 schools with LRAP not tied to the government policy are HYS and Cornell (random, I know). Hopefully it won't be something you need to worry about but LRAP is certainly not secure in it's current form.

So true. Our school has been lobbying for changes the entire time I've been here.

ETA: not that I know much beyond that but our grad students have been fighting hard for it

I mean, all I have to go on is the LST data for people employed outside of Texas: http://www.lstscorereports.com/schools/ ... tion/2013/

Can some of that be attributed to self-selection? Sure. But while UT may be more portable than most other regionals, 5.6% to NY being its highest matriculation rate makes the odds of the degree being portable "lesser" to the extent that I certainly wouldn't count on it being a reasonable assumption.

You are looking at the number of graduates who left the schools area and went somewhere else as an indication of the portability of the degree?
Might that be clouded by where people want to work and live?

or are you saying that (as example 65% employed and 5% went to another state, that IF the degree was portable, those other 35% would have certaintly moved instead of being unemployed?

My wife and I just made bruschetta and sliced and baked a baguette in the oven as an afternoon V Day snack..... plus onion dip and chips, but that doesn't sound as romantic as the bruschetta

Looks like we're going to get a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain here on Monday and Tuesday. So everything will be shut down, meaning a long weekend. :D

I'm sitting on a plane on my way to NYC for a long weekend and they said every flight going into New York and north of it after ours is canceled!! Soooo not used to this northern weather anymore! I grew up in the north, but have spent the past 5 years in either Florida or Georgia. Going back up north for law school is going to be weather shock and a half!

I don't mind it either but I want either constant snow so I can stay in 4wd and not worry or have there be no snow/ice so I don't needa worry... I don't like when I need to put it in 4wd in certain spots or to park in certain lots or w.e

Southern Cali is too hot and Northern Cali is too mild.

I like Seattle's weather but I prefer Portland's weather they get slightly hotter and slightly colder than us with slightly more snow.

SNow shoevling, snow blowers, piling ALL the snow into the middle of the yard to build the kids a fort with a tunnel, sledding...
