They're the biggest trap school.
They capitalize on their location to lure students there who overpay. 1/4 of the class gets biglaw, and the bottom 1/2-1/3 are pretty screwed and stuck doing temporary doc review in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

In addition, they are fairly stingy with scholarships. Almost no one gets 1/2 tuition+ scholarships and most get far less, if any (only 40% receive anything).

Compare that to UT where over 80% receive scholarships and over 10% receive 1/2 tuition+ and over 1/3rd get biglaw jobs in a very desirable market.

40% get biglaw in a legal market that pays NYC salary coupled with a 3rd world cost of living.
Seriously, sign me up for Houston biglaw.

So the big plus of UT is the Houston option? doesnt that just basically make UT a strong regional for Texans tho?

ETA: not trying to argue I should apply there. Obviously many people agree it's a great outcome so it is. Just trying to understand better what separates it from other regionals.

Employment score also only looks at legal jobs. 7.5% went into business jobs with an average salary of 75k. It's not exactly biglaw, but it's not unemployment or McDonalds. The underemployment score is usually more telling.

I just got a call from a stranger who asked me all kinds of law school questions and then said I could make $50.00

So of course, I told them everything --- I mean $50 is like five or six $10.00 bills. That would mean like 5 or 6 dozen of those poppers I heard about earlier comments...

Curiously question.

I just said Houston. It could be Dallas too. Dallas tends to be a little more ties-centric from what I've heard, but that's not an issue for you.
It's not separate from other schools. It's one of the strongest regionals, on par with UCLA. It's oftentimes a better option than Georgetown.
It's not particularly special, but it has great placement power in a thriving legal market (unlike WUSTL and Emory, for instance).

To qualify this, in 2013 two people had full tuition grants at Forham out of a student population of 1400+

That tier of schools needs to be generous or else they're going to get killed.

BC and BU each fell two median LSAT points last cycle because of their stubborn refusal to give more money. They're probably arrogant and know they're the New England regionals and people will come there no matter what.

BU and BC aren't awful. I mean you aren't getting a full tuition at either one, but around a quarter get 1/2 or more. They are no where near the same level as Fordham.

Ah okay rigo. LST just really confused me sometimes cause I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Like why is Yale only 78%? obviously I'm missing something.

I mean, I'm still with you UT is absolutely something Raider should apply for, but I wouldn't be as pessimistic about the possibility of getting money from BU or BC.

A lot of the ADAs in my office are Fordham Law or Brooklyn Law grads. It's really hard not to just consider that since those schools are huge feeders for ADA/PI positions in NYC, which is ultimately where my interests are. Obviously I would never sell myself that short cuz gunning for dat preftige, but le sigh.

I figure I hit dat 167 they're both gonna want me but also if I hit that UT may offer me admit with money. I'm just honestly pessimistic so I don't take too many risks.
