What did you end up getting?
Steaks, pork chops, fajitas, chicken breasts and legs, and sausage.
Sounds like you did pretty well then. Enjoy you're new-found ability to buy good meat whenever you want.

I went vegetarian on a bet with my current fiancé back before we were dating. Long story short I was vegetarian three months and she only did it a week, but I didn't find out for a long time. Worst three months of my life.

ETA: I ended the three months by attempting to eat a 72 oz steak.

You know what one of my favorite foods are? PIE! I've never had a lamb pot pie so I'm thinking I should really make one. Seattle restaurants love to mix things up but I've never seen a single place that made pot pies using any meat other than chicken or beef or fish. I make really good pot pie - the key is to always make your own crust. So much better than any store bought crust. I'm thinking I should do pie experiments using different meats and less traditional pot pie seasonings.

My pie crust recipe:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) cold salted butter
1 egg
5 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

I find that if it isn't enough water as you mix then you just add a little more. The key to making any good crust if people don't know is cold butter and cold water and not overworking the dough. I usually cut up the butter and then put it back in the fridge before I start mixing. I also put an ice cube or two in the water bowl then I measure out the water as I mix.
I've had lamb pot pie before but I've never made it from scratch. I've actually never made pie crust from scratch either, it always seems too intimidating
It's actually super easy. Last time I made a crust I added slightly too much water but the crust was still great and definitely better than store bought. I was freaking out that time until I tried the crust but it turned out really good. It's actually really hard to ruin a crust if you keep the butter and water cold and don't over mix. It's actually super easy not to over mix and the few times I've over mixed it still turned out better than store bought. :P I usually make the crust the day before but a couple hours early is also fine. Main thing is it just should go in the fridge for a little while to get chilled before being used.

Really though, who goes out on v-day? I mean it's so stupid. It's not like things are easier in any way that day. So you are doing the same thing you could do next week, only on a more crowded day when usually your service will be worse.

Either stay in or wait a week people!

He just puts articles of clothing on my head and laughs as I struggle to pull it off.

And use cow heart for a topping. I'm not even joking, that sounds kind of good.

Yeah I agree. Though my favorite meat is always smoked meat. My father is a great cook and the things he's best at is barbeque and smoking and grilling meat.

He always half bakes half smokes the turkey for Thanksgiving. It's always got that nice pink smoke layer - so delicious! My dad always brines the turkey so it is super moist. I should really learn how to smoke and grill meat.

My father's hobby is cooking and he's only become better at cooking with time. I'd love to attain his level of greatness some day.

I need his potatoes au gratin recipe some day. He mandolins the potatoes along with fresh fennel. Also tons of good cheese.
The few times he's made Yorkshire Pudding made me wish he'd make it more often.

He has never made dessert but I bet he'd be good at it.
