Peanut butter do offer a lot of healthy fats but at the end of the day, but what matters is the total amount of calorie consumed. A single serving (32g) usually has like 200 calories.Dirigo wrote:Health nuts: what's the low town on peanut butter. I get it has a lot of fat, but better than carbs or nah? Re: FEBRUARY 2015 WAITERS' CIRCUS
I stay away from peanut butter because I'm not too keen on legumes (they don't like me even though they're tasty). Also, peanut butter contains a lot of omega 6 fatty acids IIRC, which if not balanced well with omega 3s, can have some negative effects. That said, I think it's a rather healthy food, and it certainly tastes delicious.Dirigo wrote:Health nuts: what's the low town on peanut butter. Re: FEBRUARY 2015 WAITERS' CIRCUS
My dad's a great cook and he's always being told he should be a chef. He's always like "Hell no, it's much different to be a chef or professional cook than to cook on occasion for visiting friends and for parties". He enjoys cooking and is a great cook but he likes to take his time and always cooks in bulk. He'd be better as a caterer than a chef with a restaurant but even then it would be a bad choice. He would not enjoy cooking if he couldn't take his time and if there was a deadline and a bunch of other pressures.TheProdigal wrote:Speaking as someone with a career in food service: saying a good/great/the-best-ever home cook should be a chef is kind of like saying someone should be a lawyer because they like to argue. No offense to Pep or anyone else, but being a chef is a hell of a lot more than being able to cook well. In fact, some of the chef's I've known were pretty miserable technical cooks.Donashimen wrote: Pep you should just become a freakin chef! And then adopt me so I can get super fat lol
But I'll say this I don't think anyone is being serious when they tell Pepp that she should be a chef. Most people aren't serious when they tell my father this either. It just seems like something people say when they want to compliment someone's cooking. On occasion there is a person who's serious but my father always sets them straight.

So I take it that it's wrong to have this in the pantry?TheProdigal wrote:Expensive, but cashew butter.Dirigo wrote:Try to round up some Almond Butter.RaiderRed wrote:I actually enjoy natural peanut butter. Indian food is my favorite food. I love mulligatawny soup, vegetable pakoras, spinach naan, the aromatic rice, tandoori anything, and all the delicious curries. Also chai and mango lassi.peppermint wrote:Yay! It's been a while since I've had indian food, eat lots of chicken curry & saag paneer for me plz!nlee10 wrote:Pepp!peppermint wrote: I made a rosemary garlic aioli to go with some roasted brussels sprouts & then a crustless eggplant pizza (using the eggplant itself as a sort of crust) topped with tomato, fresh mozzarella, italian seitan, and some basil
I'm eating out at an indian place tomorrow for lunch. I'm expecting delicious things.
Anyone ever have Nepalese / Tibetan food? I haven't but a new place opened that took over the space of an old favorite restaurant of mine. The food looks like it's a mix of Indian food and mountainous Chinese food with lots of hearty stews and dumplings called momos. I'd like to try it sometime soon.

I'm still trying to think of a way to replace peanut butter in Cold Peanut Butter Noodles with Cookie Butter, but I have a feeling I never will (nor should) attempt that.
