Gosh that's scary. Sorry to hear that, I'm glad you didn't die. Are you heterozygous or homozygous? Also being on blood thinners must suck. Do you give yourself shots or does someone do it for you? I hate needles so when they gave me a choice of heavy duty blood thinners or an aspirin regimen to remove my clot I chose aspirin.

If this is too personal you can PM me or just choose not to say anything.
I don't get shots. I take a pill. I have no clue if I'm heterozygous or homozygous, the hemotologist just said hey you have this thing gotta take blood thinners. And it wasn't really all that scary. While they're dangerous, I caught both early and they were easily treated. I can't emphasize how badly the Pulmonary Embolism hurt, though.

ETA: Definitely heterozygous, now that I've looked at the what these mean. I remember the doctor saying I only had one of the genetic markers or something to that effect.
I'm glad you don't have to get shots. My doctor said I'd have to give myself shots or have someone else do it if I did the heavy duty blood thinners instead of the aspirin regimen. But now that I think about it the shots I think would have only been for a week then I'd be switched to a pill.

I bet a pulmonary embolism hurts, I can only imagine.

Also I'm glad you're only heterozygous.

I did have to do the shots for the first week and I did administer them myself. Needles don't bother me. From what I understand the shots (and I can't remember exactly what shots I had) are more for breaking up the clot and getting the blood to an initial thinness (although, blood thinners don't really thin the blood), and then an anti-coagulant pill maintains that level.

I am here to get a 181, because I did so well on my essay they will give me extra credit.

Now, to keep me humble, they will just report it as a 180, but LSAC and I, we will know :)

Nothing like food poisoning-induced day in bed to reset your sleep schedule. I slept at 10 and am up at 6. I feel like the healthiest person alive.

Yeah I'm all good now. It was more green/brown tide. Seriously I don't even understand where all that mass came from I didn't eat that much the day before, and I only drank juice and water yesterday.

The other day the numbers of Applicants (with LSAT ranges) and applicants (about 7 apps per applicant average) came out and was floating around here on TLS

I was interested in how quickly the pool of applications could be bled out, if students only attended the best school based on their LSAT to USN&WR rankings. Its just a swag, and I used the prior year matriculated numbers.

175-180 pool bleeds out at YH
170-174 pool runs dry at UVA
165-169 goes all the way to #20 USC and only needs 8 spots from the 160-164 candidates

Again, not accurate in any way, just interesting to see how the smaller number of candidates fits into the top 20 law schools. I saw someone ask Spivey if he had any data on how many 170's attend a T14, but I never saw that response. That also gave me the idea for this sort of "sponge in the pool" look at those numbers.

So I just ran the numbers. These are minimums, not actual results.

If I read Spivey's numbers right then last cycle the applicant numbers were:

175-180: 568
170-174: 2018
Combined: 2586

So I looked at the 25/50/75 on LSATs and each T14 school and found the minimum number of matriculates with those scores. Basically if the 75th was 175+ then I added 1/4th the class size to that pool, if the 25th was 170+ I added 3/4 of the class size to that pool, etc. This obviously created a minimum. Some schools, like Georgetown, didn't end up contributing anything to it because their 75ths were below 170, but I assume that those schools still had people with 170s and above.

Here's what I found.

Only Yale and Harvard contributed to the minimum for 175-180 with 50 and 141 students respectively. So 191+ students with 175-180 were taken up by those two schools. That means over 1/3rd of those applicants end up going to one of those two schools.

For 170+ here are the minimums:
Yale: 150
Harvard: 422
Stanford: 90
Columbia: 286
Chicago: 95
NYU: 226
Penn: 63
UVA: 77
Boalt: 0
Michigan: 0
Duke: 55
NU: 61
Cornell: 0
GULC: 0

So 1,525+ students with 170 or above LSAT went to T14 schools last year. That means at minimum, 59% of the 170+ pool got in and went to T14 schools.

SO you from the medians ran the answer to how many 170+ went to a T14? thats pretty interesting breakdown, and a nice use of the medians and the 25th percentile ... since that lets you cancel out a 160 with a 180

Not how many did, but how many had to. Basically these numbers are necessary, but not sufficient. 59% of the 170s+ had to go to T14 or the numbers wouldn't looks this way, but more could have (and based on other reports obviously did) matriculate at T14s.

BTW, if we extend the numbers to 165-180 then more than 44% of all those candidates went to T14 schools.

The problem with this method is it really works best when extending the range from one of the minimums to 180. It doesn't work as well to tell you how many 165-169s, for example, went to T14s.

The class size differences in the T14 schools was interesting look at those numbers .. from 180's, the 260 median to the 550 and 575 high
