Which one gives you the bang for your buck? Highly noticeable improvement in scores? Which one really HELPS you? I'm in Chicago.

I'd go with one of the online courses: 7sage or Velocity. Both have received a ton of praise from TLS users.
If you're adamant about taking a live course though, I'd go with Manhattan. They're terrific.
Whatever you do though, DON'T go with Kaplan or Princeton Review. Hope this helps!

I did 7Sage, but if I had to do it again, I'd probably do Velocity.
I like Dave Hall's (Velocity) teaching style more, but you get more Preptests with 7Sage so that is something to consider if you don't have PT's yet.

7Sage is great for LG (see free explanations) but Velocity is preferable for LR & RC, in my opinion.

I think this will vary heavily depending on where you are, and where you want to get to. I'd go with an online course (and did), but I went with someone off the beaten path because I wanted something targeted just towards me, which could adapt to my shifting strengths and weaknesses through the process (didn't want to be studying to the bottom of a large classroom). Worked out well for me.

Hey JDman,

A Blueprint course might be a good choice for you. There's a class in Chicago this spring with an excellent instructor. In terms of "bang for your buck," Blueprint students increase their score by 11 points on average from their first to their best in-class proctored practice exam, according to a third party study conducted in the spring of 2014. Also, 26% of the students in the study increased their score by 15 points or more, and over 5% increased their scores by 20 points or more. Those numbers are pretty outstanding, and I think they show that Blueprint classes really do help students increase their scores significantly.

I took Testmasters with a few friends - great experience.

velocity for sure. Also how many BP guys now? at least the other one skirted the line.

Only because I had an awesome jump myself after taking other courses, then velocity. Plus the price is insane compared to actual classes. There was a time when every one of these threads was answered with pages of velocity, but all those posters are busy at t14 or V10 these days

I took BP and I improved along the lines with what they advertise as their 11 point increase. I wouldn't recommend it if the class is going to end right before your scheduled test day. IMO, you need at least another 2-3 months afterwards to practice what you learned to really solidify your skills.

Don't mean to intrude in your thread but I am going to be taking a few practice tests dry soon, after which I would like to start an online course (works better with my schedule). Would Velocity be better? I have a good majority of the powerscore books which I have gazed at a little bit but really want something I can dive right into.

I did 7sage online and Testmasters for in-class instruction.

I thought they were both pretty solid.

Which PTs does velocity use for its assignments and lessons?

This is the case, I'm sure, for all prep courses. I took mine in LA area.

I think it's a safe bet if you're not out in a random fly-over city.
