Have you ever had your IQ tested?
If you have, what did you score on your LSAT (including practice tests)?

Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
This is such an interesting question.
170 LSAT/ 116 IQ (I think that's what it was)
EDIT: First LSAT 166
Obviously I took the LSAT seriously and the IQ Test somewhat less seriously.

Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
I doubt you'll see much of a correlation. There are many SAT to IQ conversion sites out there, and they all put me at least a standard deviation higher than I actually got on the IQ test I took when I was a child. And I didn't even study for the SAT, so for many people the disparity may be even larger.
So, from my personal experiences, the SAT/IQ correlation isn't very strong, and the LSAT is even more specialized and learnable than the SAT, so I'm guessing the correlation between them would be even weaker.

Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
Often times a high LSAT is the simple product of hard work. Not a lot to do with IQ. I don't know if they correlate. You could teach an idiot to make 90th percentile on the LSAT if they have the diligence and motivation. I've never taken an IQ test but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that

In theory a IQ test should be measuring some deeper ability. The problem is that they mostly fail to do so. There have been news stories talking about significant score fluctuation for individuals over time, which brings in doubt about the validity of these exams.

IQ is overrated. This is coming from a guy who scored highly on it as a kid.

Sounds like something Ted Cruz would ask before deciding whether or not you're worth his time

90th percentile is 163-165. I have huge doubts that given the time and material combined with work ethic someone couldnt score a 163 if studying for long enough. You could teach someone to go -0 on LG in a month.downbeat14 wrote:As someone who teaches the LSAT full time, I can assure you that this is completely false.ilikebaseball wrote:You could teach an idiot to make 90th percentile on the LSAT if they have the diligence and motivation.

Re: Have you ever had your IQ tested?
133 IQ 171 LSAT.
The IQ test is a cultural conditioning game. Pay that no mind. The LSAT is a test of your ability to practice the most mind numbing word games on the face of the earth for hundreds of hours over a span of several months. The former tells how much money your parents have and how they spent it, and the latter tells how boring of a person you are. I'm not the most boring and spoiled rich brat ever, but I think I'm at least in the top 5%. Hooray for success!
They say the LSAT is a decent predictor of law school success. It follows that law school requires mind numbing drudgery crammed into tight schedules for long periods of time. Cheers!
And yes, yes it does Fatty. That's the whole point of IQ tests.

Why don't you tell them not to go to law school instead of stealing their money?downbeat14 wrote:I can assure you that some people will never get to -5 or better on LG (I know for you this sounds crazy). Dude, some of my students start in the 120s and can't even finish two RC passages in 35 min. There are some people that just do not click with the LSAT (or in some cases just can't read in English well enough). I tutored someone who had taken every PT and two classes and couldn't break 155. He/she finally made it to 160 on the third try. She was also fairly bright (top tier undergrad with solid GPA), but just has a hard time with anxiety and taking tests. I'm sorry but you are simply wrong.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
