Online courses for 170+ retaker?

Postby peke » Fri Jan 02, 2015 2:23 pm

I wrote the Dec14 test and got a 171. I self-studied rigorously for the 2 months prior (10-15 hrs weekly) and lightly for about 2 months before that while working a 60 hr a week job. Under strict testing conditions, I was averaging about 174-176. I'd like to retake it again in Feb but considering taking a course this time though I have my doubts of how useful they may be for that score range. I would love to hear any thoughts/testimonies/recommendations? Thanks!

I think a course would be a waste of money for you. Courses are geared towards teaching beginners the basics.

Invest in the Cambridge Packets for drilling instead.

I took a prep course and really liked it, but It seems self study has put you in a pretty good position especially if your PTs have been around 175. I would stick with it and save the money.

I'm clearly biased, but I do recommend courses for most students. It's likely that they can contribute something to your skills repertoire and they provide a structure that many students find valuable.

Happy to talk more via PM, if you'd like.

Best of luck,

Don't most classes allow you to take the first session for free? Then again, the first session will be useless to you. I'd ask if you could sit in on a class halfway through the course. That's probably the only way you will know if you are missing something by not taking the course.

Have you done the LSAT Trainer?
Have you exhausted all prep tests?
Have you done all 7sage videos?

I'd look to the above first.
