Can somebody help me make a study plan?

Post by AlexandraHope » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:19 pm

I will begin studying for the LSAT in mid January; and I am hoping to take the LSAT in October. Because of my classes and extracurricular activities, I will only have time to study on Saturday, Sunday and possibly one day during the school week. Can you guys help me make a plan?

Have you taken a diagnostic yet?

If not - I recommend you do so before coming up with a study plan.

If so - what did you score in each section?

my diagnostic was 151
Logic games were 35%, Logical Reasoning was 58% and Reading comprehension is 78%.

A score breakdown by section (as in how many you got right or wrong on each section) along with raw and scaled score is a better way to report these things on the forum. Its just a bit more user friendly.

The good news is that you have an awesome breakdown. By fixing logic games you will break 160. Studying diligently in the other sections will put you in a position to get a 170. I never suggest studying longer-term to people. Put your entire effort into it for 4 months tops and adopt the attitude of never studying for this test again after the first take. If you will have time over the summer, I strongly suggest just waiting for school to let out and studying then. I just don't think there is much to be gained by studying less than 20 or so hours a week for this test.

Devoting that amount of time each week helps you really dive deep into the way the LSAT wants you to think. It also makes you so miserable that you refuse to extend your studying past a certain date, a powerful motivator. Obviously, if you don't get the score you want the first time, you should extend your studying and retake, but that is Plan B.
Thankyou so much for the advice! When I took the test at school with Kaplan this was all that they sent me for my diagnostic.
Would this work..
Logic Games January through May
Logical Reasoning-Late May though July
Reading Comprehension-July
All-Late July through LSAT date (drill practice tests?)

I am studying abroad this summer(Late May through mid July). So I don't think it would be realistic to say that I would study diligently for the LSAT over the summer, until I get back to America. But I can do Logical Reasoning every night before bed and on the planes and stuff.
