And parts of brooklyn (see: williamsburg) are not much cheaper than the village, if at all.

UES clearly the move for a law studentShakawkaw wrote:Everyone should live in Harlem. Right, GT?Dirigo wrote:IMO, NYU has the best location of any law school. Tomorrow I''m touring Columbia Law, would share pics if anyone interested (FYI, I'm usually my iPhone camera)
Columbia's law building is underwhelming but the Columbia campus as a whole is very nice. Morningside Heights isn't too far behind Greenwich Village either despite being a tad less convenient to the rest of Manhattan's hip attractions.
I doubt most 0L's live in the schools' respective neighborhoods though. Brooklyn and Queens are way more affordable.

"Cheaper" is a very loose term. Minimum rent in Brooklyn is 800. And that's with a few roomies.Dirigo wrote:I lived in Bay Ridge for a summer but it was such a bitch because local trains suck.GreenTee wrote:Harlem is the shit. Generally the further out you go from Manhattan--neighborhood-wise--the cheaper rent is.
ETA: Bay Ridge is a nice neighborhood! I went to HS there. What could have been, Rigo... ~*~*

I prefer the west side to the east side but a big part of that is probably just because I'm gay.

Is the west side more gay-friendly?

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS (New Poll!!)
I live in Brooklyn and it took me under 50 minutes to get to NYU Law, 1 bus (could of walked but lazy) 1 train. I just realized that it would cost me appx $5-7 total to get to and from NYU everyday. I'm sharing a 3 bedroom in Brooklyn with family, when I start paying rent it would be around 500-600 per month so when I factor in living and traveling expense, NYU is a top choice.

I thought you only had the one roomie. Who is the second? Are you considering Astor and Stan the second roomies?GreenTee wrote:Also, I'm sharing a 3BR in Harlem, and I pay $500. It's great.
For those ITT, Astor and Stan are his kitties.
