Deadline to change LSAT date passed. What should I do?

Postby psbrathwaite » Tue Nov 25, 2014 9:03 pm

"11/16/2014 "Date change deadline" -
I got a 150 on the Sept LSAT and due to classes, as well as poor decision making, I'm not prepared to score higher on the December test.
The Feb one is the last one I can take before applications are due. Advice?

I think LSAC does a 51 dollar refund..but it cancels your score? Whereas if I withdraw now and Re-register I've lost 150 dollars?

I have no Idea which is better.

I know the deadline to postpone without totally losing your money was 11/16/14. I am not sure about this $51 refund thing. As far as I know, the only way to withdraw is to lose out the money you paid for the Dec test and completely reregister for the Feb one.

don't rule out sitting a cycle out, a yr off isn't a terrible thing and can be nice to gain perspective of life... if you feel you won't improve withdraw and take when you're ready

In the grand scheme of things....I would rather lose the refund than take the test when not fully prepared.

Taking the exam won't get a magical points boost over PT scores....if anything it would go down.

Sure most schools only consider highest, but why put a weak score when you don't have to.

I wouldn't let the refund be your determining factor on wether or not to test in Dec

Definitely withdraw. Not getting a refund isn't a big deal in the scheme of things. Save your take incase you need another one.

That's not old. 25 is average. Many of my friends are in their 30's applying this cycle.
Don't rush applying to law school. Get a great LSAT score first. The LSAT is probably the most important single event in your career. It can be the difference between being set for life and financial ruin.
