I am a bit confused when I should use tables. For example, on PT 5 game 2 (Casey buys three shirts from the store), it is much easier to use tables like

Y
B
S M L
Instead of
S/m/l. _ _ _
R/y/b. _ _ _
1 2 3
But on other games when I try to use tables, it takes much more time and I mess up. So is there a way I could see which method would work better?
