Retake a 3rd time?
I did a quick search and didn't see this addressed. I scored a few points lower on my first LSAT than my PTs and retook without much prep doing 2 points lower. Will it hurt me to retake a 3rd time this June if I really give it my all? I was rejected at my top schools (likely because of my score) and got a few acceptances with $$ to my backup options. How bad will 3 scores look to top schools?

With your 164 you are right on the cusp of something great. You probably got roughly 20-17 wrong on the test. If you can get about 7 more right (I know its not that easy) then you are looking at BIG acceptances and potentially BIG money.
Anyone who doesn't hit their target and doesn't retake all three times deserves what they get. You have NOTHING to lose and financial security to gain. Please retake.

Understandable. However, was your goal not to get a great scholarship to a great school (WUSTL if I remember correctly? Full ride right?). I think your situation would still fall generally in line with my principle.sublime wrote:WaltGrace83 wrote:With your 164 you are right on the cusp of something great. Bolded is a bit broad, as I was signed up to retake, but got an offer I couldn't really refuse. It is rare but there are times when bypassing the retake is the best option.
But I agree with your general sentiments and you probably should retake, OP.

Schools will not even blink at 3 retakes. I'm at Penn and also got into every school ranked lower in the T-14 with 3 LSAT scores so don't let fear of judgment stop you

I retook twice, my second score was 1 point higher than my first, and my third was 11 points higher than that. Got T7. I can not express how beneficial a second retake was to me.

If u can score higher, it won't hurt you.
I took 3 times and my third time was 9 pts higher than my second. My cycle is going well so far and I got some offers with full-ride (see profile/LSN or pm for details).

You will do fine with the third take, prep properly and knock it out of the park and those first two scores won't hold you back.hk227 wrote:I did a quick search and didn't see this addressed. 170/173, and I'm retaking this June.
Don't retake if you don't think you're in a strong position to improve. But, if you prepare properly, there is no reason you shouldn't take it three times if necessary.

Spaz award of the year... I'm new and hadn't read through that much. I got it now. Retake at all costs!John Everyman wrote:How did you not see this addressed?hk227 wrote:I did a quick search and didn't see this addressed. Anyway, I'm nervous about taking off another full year but I know long term it may be the right thing to do. I graduated last May and another year off is really daunting to me.
