The event last night with the Deans of Admission from Stanford, Duke, and Cornell was awesome. It made me really excited for next year! A lot of the information was nothing too new, but it was still good to hear. Below are some of the notes I took while I was there.

As we were all expecting.... There is a Declining applicant pool; however, the employment is rising.

"December LSAT is just fine. It won't affect your decision in any way." All three schools stressed the importance of a quality application versus an early application. Especially with the numbers the way they are, unless you are far above their means, then they are going to hold applications and wait for all of the applications to come in in order to get a better picture of the applicants they have to choose from.

LSAT Writing Prompt: There was a huge emphasis on this portion of the LSAT. Not that it is more important than your score, rather that completing it is necessary to get into good schools. They shared several bad prompts and stressed the importance of completing it correctly. They want to know "can you write, communicate, and make connections."

What they look at when deciding to admit you...or not...
GPA: institutional quality, mean LSAT score from each school, grading practices, majors not accounted for

CAAS Report:
- LSAT score band,
- semester by semester breakdown *look for trends
- LSAT Writing Sample
- Transcript

LofR: make sure your recommender a know you very well. Celebrities don't impress them. Prestigious roles in society don't impress them. They want a recommender who knows your skills and strengths. They want to hear what impressed your recommender about you.

Resume - don't worry about one page. Take the time to explain in yiu resume rather than wasting that space in your personal statement
Personal Statement:
- think of it as interview
- what impression do you want to leave
- topic doesn't matter
- personal story - tell the story that you can't pick up anywhere else in the file
- "sometimes the ones that impress us the most are the quiet ones"
- DONT WRITE OBITUARY - This is an inside joke among the schools. They race each year to see who gets the first obituary personal statement. They dislike it because it is writing about things that haven't actually happened. It doesn't shed light about who you are today and who you will be at their law school.

1) does "mean LSAT score from each school" mean what others at your alma mater received on the LSAT compared to you? As in, where you fall in the range that people at your school receive?

2) I'm surprised about the page count comment. Good to know, though, because cutting my resume down to 1 page is like nearly impossible at this point.

3) That;s actually freaking hilarious that they get obituary PSs.

thanks for all the info!!

Apparently. On my transcript summary report thing, the avg lsat score from my undergrad is a 156...not sure if good or bad.

That's pretty good. Mine is 150. At least yours is above average.

Counted out of 99 people. Don't know if this is yearly or over some x-year period. Went to a 18,000 large public college with a heavy emphasis on Engineering and business. There's some neat data on admissions within lsac. lol

Wait, what? Where do I find this?

The Academic Summary Report on the Transcripts page. You need to have all transcripts processed first.

Lol, yeah, and it's out of 759 ppl  My other school was out of 10, haha

Dang, that's crazy, mine was actually out of like 260ish.

90% of my college friends majored in engineering or business. Hardly any who wanted to do grad school. lmao

This kind of seems like BS, though. It was fucking high school.

same issue with me. I took 5 or so classes while I was a junior/senior and was stoned at all times of the day so yeah I did horrible. haha I just put bachelor for mine.

Tomorrow is PT 59 for me. (Dw guys, not burnt out so I'm to go!)

This one has a pretty big curve at -14. Haven't taken a PT with this big of a curve in a long time. Aiming for a 158 or higher!

Thanks. I'm leaving the 1-30's for drilling. Will probably do a few more 40's but really focus on 53-73 until Dec 6th.
gl to you too.
