Lollll...my husband is a prof so we're either going to be super badass or super unemployed.
this is basically what im looking at. my fiance is getting her MFA and has been teaching college courses for about three years, and could get a job in writing departments. ppl assume the more badass path....but like, idk, stuff is not easy

You guys are the best  My family will be traveling back to Seattle for a family reunion this weekend -- for my wife's side of the family. So I will have a ton of time to study (seriously). Trying to drill every LG in the Cambridge LG packet. My LG performance is not where I want it.

Lucky guy, I am leaving for a 3 day family vacation on Friday and I really dont want to go. I have like 11 siblings and I am pretty sure that at least 7 of them would be there + their kids and spouse + extended family and friends. I really really dont want to go, my husband has to work so he's not coming, having to deal with my family on my own is too much right now...... :( But I'm migrating next month so this would be the last time I see most of them for a very long time.

BRB going to the drug store to buy some Excedrin

are you 1 of 11 or 1 of 12? do you even know how many siblings you have? i can have like max 2 friends at any one time. do you forget their names sometimes?

edit: saying "i can have" seems to imply that i have some sort of options when it comes to friends, this may be misleading

Nooo, he has a strong possible position at a uni in DC that isn't Georgettttttttown. It's not for sure at all just yet. He has no strong options near any other T14 schools except NYC (maybe) or Boston (better for him than NYC, not as good as DC). and I'm not getting into CCN or Harvard so.
Ohhh well good luck w the search

:D Bad habit, I always count myself, its 10 siblings + me =11

I suck at making friends because I literally have no more space in my life/heart for any more close relationships with so many brothers and sister + nieces/nephews +hubby I'm emotionally drained

That's speculation, obviously.
On the plus side, you'd be on your way to a sweet stigmata.

How is the job market for prophet impersonators?

yeah we kind of just said about how much the prof market sucks. i think i read on TLS somewhere that there was like 65 open legal academia positions open last year (this could be way off base). plus with the whole adjunct thing gaining more popularity, academia scares me even more. not to mention the whole "publish or die" thing that goes on. and you make like 15K for 15 years while you're getting your PhD. not bad when you're 23, but when you're 30 and finishing your dissertation and making nothing, it has to be disheartening.

Not sure if every knows this already but in the Superprep book for Point of Issue questions they state that the question stem for Point of Issue questions should help you understand whether the point of disagreement is explicitly stated or not. For example,

1. Max and Nina disagree over whether....

According to Superprep, the phrasing of this question stem indicates that you should be looking for a direct conflict between something that one speaker said and something that the other speaker said (I'm assuming that means Max concludes "A equals B" and Nina concludes "Not necessarily sometimes "B equals A")

2. The dialogue provides the most support for the claim that Max and Nina disagree over whether....

In this case, the parties do not disagree explicitly, and the point of disagreement must be inferred from the explicit positions that the speakers take....

Just wanted to share..its page 23 in case you want to read it yourself :)

so you're wanting to an MA to hone your interests in what area of law you want to go into? idk i mean you should only do an MA like that if you are taking out $0 in loans (including COL). it just seems like a pretty big commitment just to hone your interest in some area of that you may or may not end up practicing in, IMHO.

PT 59

Score: 179

just kidding, 163

LR: -10 combined (I thought I did way better so I'm not sure what the deal is here)
RC: -8 (Once again, the comparative passage killed me, as it was easy and I missed 2)
Games: -5

This was the weirdest PT I've ever taken and graded. I seriously thought I missed like 1 or 2 total on LR and I was positive that I bombed the last two games.

I guess I am a good guesser, lol.
