Thanks, vracovino. I just want to get into PT'ing so I can begin to asses precisely where I need to go. Hopefully by next week I will be there.vracovino wrote:That's quite an encouraging glimmer of hope if you ask me!Toby Ziegler wrote:Using my 300th post to say I need to step the study game up.
"Took" PT A from the Superprep and rage quit during the LG section.
I was -7 on the first LR
and -6 on RC
I haven't finished all of the LR sections from Cambridge and I still need to study grouping games and RC. Feeling discouraged AF. Work has had me working overtime and when I get home I spend time with my wife and kids then have no energy to study. Gave my work an ultimatum today and they're backing my schedule off starting Thursday. I'll put 2 hours in today and tomorrow then back to 5 hour study days from Thursday til game day.
ETA: The questions I missed on LR were types I haven't studied yet. So there is a small glimmer of hope in this experience.

For those who have been drilling or have already finished, how would you say you know that you're improving? I would assume that by supplementing the questions with the mlsat explanations then you can understand the structure and reasoning behind the answers (right or wrong). But, does that in itself improve you?

Why do I feel like 7sage isn't going to be DTF with your plan to let multiple people piggyback on one account?ilikebaseball wrote:Okay guys, we have 7 people that are gonna split 7sage. That's enough for now... great job and I'll be in touch with all of you later tonight!!

Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
So I followed y'alls advice and took my PT timed ASAP (with a count up) to see where I was about 2 months out. The results were shocking:
PT50
LG: -1 (went 3 mins over)
LR: -4 (went 1min over on one section, and 2:30over on the other)
RC: -1 (went 1:54 over)
Scaled score: 175
Feel good, but I now see why timing is important and hopefully within the next 22 PTs left, I can ace that. According to 7sage breakdown, my biggest problems with LR is with flaws so I will brush up on that tomorrow morning.
I think the biggest thing I do that is hurting my score is that I confirm my right answers AS well as the wrong answers for questions 1-15 to make sure i get them right and in doing so i'm taking away precious seconds I could use on the later questions. i'm going to have to learn to trust my gut after eliminating answer choices and just quickly reading over the one left to make sure it makes sense.

Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
I got a 165 last cycle and decided to retake this September, partly due to TLS wisdom. I'm a longtime lurker and these LSAT resources and discussions have been really invaluable in my studying this summer. I'm averaging a 171 and my LR is always my downfall (averaging -3.5 per section). I drilled PT28 S1 tonight and got -4 - all but one on questions I identifed as iffy. I'm working through the Manhattan LSAT book - what are the other best ways to drill fundamental skills?

We dont know. Guess we'll find out. Currently playing whack a mole with my sections in the low 160s. I go -0 on games, I bomb LR. I do good (for me) on LR, I botch a game or get owned by an RC passage (although I just did the maize passage and good god that shit was hard).
Hoping to break free of low 160s soon!

Stupid female/male lizards & snakes game. I'm going to try it tomorrow when I'm more rested. I can't believe I just went ahead and tried doing it without attempting to draw any inferences/set up hypotheticals lol.

I have a serious love/hate relationship with Cambridge right now. They make it far too easy to buy question packets and PTs. What a business model that preys on neurotic, millenial 0Ls.

It doesn't seem like you need any help. You are testing pretty high.smccgrey wrote:+1HRomanus wrote:I have a serious love/hate relationship with Cambridge right now. They make it far too easy to buy question packets and PTs. What a business model that preys on neurotic, millenial 0Ls.
It was so easy for me to just panic about Parallel reasoning on Sunday and buy their packets online right away and print them out. All for less than $10, in less than 10 minutes.
Although, to their credit, as business models go, it's kind of brilliant.

Getting a higher LSAT is always a good thing (aside from YP), especially for a splitter like smccgrey.Learn_Live_Hope wrote:It doesn't seem like you need any help. Oh stop it. In all seriousness though, I tend to look at parallel reasoning and roll my eyes and go with gut instinct, and that's a terrible strategy.
For me though, I have basically nothing going for me except a potentially high LSAT score, so I might as well buy drilling material.
