So we examined our potential law school options at our respective GPAs and (potential) LSATs and location/career goals. Unless we went to the same school, there were only two schools that would give us a chance of being close (still 5-8 hours apart). Getting close LSAT scores would increase the chances that we attend the same school.

Update to my FA situation from several pages ago. I ended things with the girl who lives 5 hours away and goes to college 10 hours away. She was really upset and I felt like shit, but I can't do long distance like that. I promised her that if she got within 3 points of me on the LSAT we would date. I explained it as the best indicator of whether we'd end up close to each other, but I really said it because it will incentivize her studying and that can only help her regardless what happens to us.

If you truly wanted to split up with her, then you could've just been honest and said "our interests in law schools are different, so I cant see it working out.

Instead, you basically said "you're too stupid and I'm so above your level that I cant even be seen in public with you."

No, you're definitely not getting the whole story. I explained that I can't do an LDR, especially one 10 hours apart and especially one that doesn't have a foreseeable future of being short distance. Yeah, but you don't get it. Promising her that you'd date her if she increased her score, the idea that you were trying to help motivate her to study... You think you're a prize or something? She has to win you? Do you understand how arrogant that reads? I understand that you had good intentions, but that is really just so offensive.

You're probably going to want to try to avoid saying something similar when breaking up with a woman in the future. Any variation of the theme of the idea that, "if you learn to be as good as me, then we can date" should be omitted.
