Can I get some opinions I have a 3.6 but bad LSAT < 160 if I get a substantial increase on retake do you think I have chance at t14?

get fee waivers and apply to mid-lower t14s at the very least (ESPECIALLY if you significantly improve your lsat)

Well no pressure on this LSAT or anything. Fack. I want it now!!

If you get at least a 168, I would say you have a chance at something in the T14 biting.

I sent apps the past week or so to Duke (PT), Cornell, UVA, BC and BU. Still gotta work out the Penn app and consider if I should write any optional papers. Same with S. And I'm not applying to H and Y unless I get at least 170 on Dec. Before sending them out, I checked all the school websites regarding their policies about reviewing an application with a score to be waited on. Some give you the option of reviewing your application solely based on an older score or scores, while others state explicitly that they automatically put your application on hold until the new score comes in. From the schools I looked at, only BU states they automatically put your application on hold until the new score comes in. Otherwise, the other schools either give you an option about what score or scores you want them to review, or it's their explicit policy to review an application based only on scores that have been received, unless you prefer them to wait until the new score comes in. Essentially, check with the schools regarding their policies.

At the stage of the cycle we're in, odds are applications aren't getting reviewed thoroughly until after New Years, anyway - in fact, Duke says the 10 days of their PT review do not start until after New Years if you submit now. I should've just applied to schools where my Oct LSAT was above their 75th earlier, but I figured they'd just put my application on hold. As I found out, you shouldn't assume that's the case.

Bored at work so I checked the October Waiters thread for when the boxes turned grey (pg 644-645, if you're as curious as I was). My heart actually started racing when I was reading it. Sweaty palms....everything. I felt like I should have been receiving my score or something lol.

Sometimes I wonder if applying with a 170 isn't the fastest way to getting acceptances b/c schools are more prone to believe you'll go there. Then you go land the higher LSAT score and ask for a scholarship increase.

I also wonder if applying really late and playing off schools being desperate to keep their medians might be a way to get a better scholarship, but this would obviously be very risky.

Anybody get the email from USC about what looks like a full scholarship potentially offered and a stipend? Looks like a great deal for someone who knows they want California and isn't able to get into Stanford or Berkeley. Or for someone who isn't able to get S but is in at Berkeley for sticker or close to it.

What are these boxes that apparently turn grey when scores are released? I'll probably feel silly for asking this once I get the answer but I'm not understanding what you guys are talking about.

Got this today. Definitely caught my attention. Chances of getting it are probably slim but certainly seems like something worth looking into.

They are the boxes on your lsac account where the icons are green right now under LSAT Status.

its not this bc i didnt get one either :|

the common denominator between us then is being LA/CA residents...maybe USC thinks because we're local they don't need to entice us with money?

ETA: wait, did you even apply to USC yet bee? I'm pretty sure the email was sent out to people who already applied.

Yea, just looked into it and it's only awarded to 1 person. Talk about competition lol.

I don't know. I'm a New Englander, so that could make sense. At the same time, a New Englander should try the BU full ride before they go the USC route unless they really want Cali.

And one person? LOL. Well, damn, if anything they should attract the person who would've went to S or B.

Yeah just saw the boxes. Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't realized they changed color on the day of score releases. Must suck for anyone who is color blind as the boxes are always grey to them. Talk about constant panic.

Applications for the Frank Rothman Scholarship are accepted by invitation only. USC Law School carefully selects candidates for the scholarship from the pool of applications it receives each year. To increase your chances of being invited to apply for the Frank Rothman Scholarship, submit your USC Law application no later than January 1, 2014. The Rothman Scholarship deadline is January 24, 2014.

Frank Rothman Scholars are selected entirely on the basis of merit. Criteria include strong undergraduate record, LSAT score, and additional accomplishments, such as publishing books and articles, running a business, inventing useful devices, and other similar, highly significant achievements. Finalists are provided with airfare and lodging in order to participate in interviews and meetings at USC Law. Final selections are made in the spring.
