I have taken the test 3 times with last week being my most recent. The 1st two attempts have taken place Fall 2012. I am considering canceling this recent attempt because I feel it is not a significant increase, perhaps 4-5 points. I was considering taking the test in June and putting law school off for another year again.

Do you think this is wise? I am concerned that if I do not cancel, I will receive a score that is high 150s which is small increase from my 1st two attempts. This may come off bad to an admission rep. I wanted my 3rd attempt not to be high 150s but rather at least mid 160s or even low 160s.

Thats why I am thinking of pushing back to June

Any thoughts?

btw I am not aiming for Yale. Mostly Tier 1-2 schools.

If you are aiming for Tier 2 schools you will need some decent scholarships to justify it after graduation, so I guess go with your gut. I'm not sure what scholarship cut offs are for Tier 2 schools, so you'll have to determine that yourself.

For T1-T2, push to June, guarantee atleast 160+ and enjoy the scholarship money. Well worth the wait.
I was aiming for T2's last cycle (not knowing of TLS) and had a high 150's score. Didn't get the best $$$ and am so glad I waited a year and retook.

I need something to hold me for the additional year. I have a supervisor who is making my life hell. I am ready to quit. Trying to find a job though while I am still employed. Thats one thing that is making me concerned about putting it off for another year. I don't want my resume displaying a bad work history ( jobs <6months)

Next job I plan to get I want to stay till I matriculate.

What are some of the recommended books for students going into their 1L year? I am sure there are a million lists but is there a TLS recommended book?

Not every book is useful to every person, but the good thing about GtM is that it doesn't really teach any bad habits that you'll need to correct during 1L. I think a lot of what is covered in GtM does become useful during 1L if you remember what you read.

Total personal call, either gotta be resilient through the shitty supervisor or get on your grind networking like crazy and find that new job, even if you have a month or two in between employment. You'll figure it out! I'm glad I had to FORCE myself to find a job before I went to law school. I networked my ass off, rekindled old contacts, gained new ones, definitely good attributes I'm glad I have before I commit to one of the biggest financial investment I will make.

Definitely agree with you. TBF, GtM is rated really high and most people like it.

Top 150, so they got 180s? Good for that fourth guy who took the test for them. If I was taking an LSAT illegally and transmitting answers to Hawaii via pager I think my nerves would have gotten in the way. How did they get caught? Did the proctor write them up for their pagers or was that not illegal until after this stunt?

This is a really good point. Whoever took that test for them could very well be a Stanford, Yale or Harvard grad

Seriously, that seems like the hardest guy to find. "I know you are well on your way to making 160k+ a year, but if I give you a few hundred bucks would you risk all of that to help us get into YHS?"

I know none of us are experts, but what do you guys think are the chances of a bigger curve than October. I'm kinda freaking out about the cancelation deadline and might cancel
