Re: Decembre 2013 Waiters
I've heard of this drink, but it seems sacrilegious. I don't think I could pay for that. I love smoky/peaty scotch like Laph.FrenchDonkey wrote:Manhattans are the shit. On a special occasion I'd do Whistlepig. Any drink with red vermouth is good in my book, though.PourMeTea wrote:Have not drowned, have not been drinking, unfortunately. I'd like to do both. Tea, dry vermouth is CR, too. I just really like red vermouth in negronis/manhattans.

When I drink cocktails I only really go for the Manhattan, but you're right that you have to be careful where you order it from. Especially here in Beijing. I once ordered a long island and they ran out of Coke. Without saying anything, they decided to substitute it with Sprite. That was not a nice experience.PourMeTea wrote:I only ever order Perfect Manhattans because it was the first "real" cocktail I ever tried and it is wonderful. Otherwise, I'm more of a straight whiskey person (Lagavulin 16 if I feel like being classy or Makers if it's a regular night). If I'm at dinner, then I'll go with wine (Malbec being my favorite) or beer (IPAs or Belgian triples).
Unfortunately I can't help you with other cocktails.

Tea, just make your own sophisticated drink and own it. Maybe 2 parts bourbon, 1 part dry vermouth, 1 part campari (I think that's a dry boulevardier or w/e).

First would like to wish everyone a happy new year since this is my first post of 2014 and second:
I will take a moment to say this was, in fact, a fantastic moment of television.muzzy wrote:Can I take this moment to share that one of my favorite P&R moments is when Ron is sent on a scavenger hunt to the Lagavulin distillery?
