Re: Decembre 2013 Waiters
Most of the central Asian people have Turkic origins. Some have Persian origins, but If you can speak Turkish (which I most certainly can not), then you can at least somewhat understand or make yourself understood to most of the people throughout the Stans. Also, as it's the former USSR, everything is written in the Cyrillic alphabet and most speak at least a little bit of Russian.Nightrunner wrote:I saw a VICE video about it. Otherwise, all I know about Kyrgyzstan is "it is one off those territories that used to be Russia, but has always been mixed with Russian/Turkic/Uzbek/probably Mongolian."retaking23 wrote:that's kazakhstan in the borat universe, not kyrgzstanNightrunner wrote:How do you feel about bridenapping?snagglepuss wrote: Why Kyrgyzstan? edit: just wikipedia-ed this, ignore my ignorance
From what I understand about bridenapping (which is not much at all), it's done mostly out of tradition. I think it's quite rare for some girl to be randomly kidnapped while walking down the street and forced to marry some guy. Most of the time, I believe the two are already in a relationship and the guy's friends go and kidnap her. Also, I'm pretty sure that the girl has the right to say no once kidnapped.
In the past though, no.

Hahaha. You've done this thread a service by spitting some humor here.Nightrunner wrote:I'm pretty fast. I bet I could nap, like, seven brides.snagglepuss wrote:Don't knock it till you've tried it, right?Nightrunner wrote: How do you feel about bridenapping?
OK, maybe six brides. Everyone needs a day of rest.
I'm curious, do the mods rotate who has to watch these waiting threads or how's that work?

I noticed that Chrome and LSAC don't play nice, so I just switched my primary browser back to Netscape Navigator 3 (Gold Edition OFS).

Why would you take off work to get an LSAT score? You're seriously crazy.

My best bud from UG is from Brasil and I'm planning to meet him there for the World Cup and then wander through Argentina, Chile and Peru.
False: Life is the adventure.

I think its absurd. Yeah I'm nervous, but I'm not going to play a guessing game of when to take off work when I don't even know for sure when the score is coming. I need that $$

I always used AOL 9.0 (Optimized).muzzy wrote:I prefer Mosaic, but I'd roll with Netscape, too.snagglepuss wrote:I noticed that Chrome and LSAC don't play nice, so I just switched my primary browser back to Netscape Navigator 3 (Gold Edition OFS).
Also snag we don't do rotations. Don't imagine mod work like a modern police department. It is more like the Wild West marshal system, where you basically deputize some fools and say "ok, go wander like the tumbleweed and serve up justice and one-liners."

Haha fair enough. I'm treating work as a way to get my mind off of it I suppose. I think sitting at home would put me in a panic.
