Btw, Happy Halloween folks! I think I may head home early to avoid the night crowd tonight...it's going to be crazy, lol. Going to watch some Michael [deleted] though, after drilling some inference questions.

Question-- I don't drink caffeine (seriously, not even sure how I got through October...) so I am interested/wary of energy boosting things... Can you tell me a little more about the effects, especially when you first started using it? Mostly concerned about being jittery/not sleeping since I haven't had stimulants in 10+ years...

i am/was a huge, huge coffee drinker, about 8 cups/day during UG. synchro provides much the same boost, but zero jiterryness for me. it's like the perfect caffeine buzz, but with no accompanying crash.

p.s. how was the harvard thing last night?

Hmm... very tempting. I was at 8-10 cups of coffee/espresso a day, so while my heart is probably thanking me, I definitely lag now without it!

Harvard thing was cool. Pretty small- only about 20 people there. A lot of it was mostly stuff that you can find online, but she did go into some detail about the LIPP program (they apparently work very hard to help repay loans, especially for grads that go into lower paying fields) and reimbursement for unpaid internships which is obviously awesome. On a personal note, there was free popcorn and someone brought up TLS and synchro so I considered it amusing and worth it.

Second this. Synchro wipes the floor with cups and cups of coffee with zero jitters. Imagine feeling alert and energized and generally wonderful without the caffeine jitters or other "side effects" of coffee/stimulants...yep.

Awesome. I hated the jitters, and think I'd just be an anxious mess if I started up the caffeine again... Looking into this now!

I'm at work too. I used to work in another office before Oct and nobody watched me so that I could do a PT in the morning and dealt with emails in between sections. Now I moved back to the main office and my boss sits next to me.. can never study at work again.

Synchro should seriously think about partnerships with law schools at Admitted Students Weekends.

Also, I just sent a link to this thread to the Synchro creator.... so..... everyone say HI GRAHAM

Worked like a charm.

Yes, this please. :)

Hi Bee,

Oh, reading your posts reminds me of how I felt exactly after the June test! I really feel for you, friend! I was also terrible at games, then worked my up to -0/-1 before ultimately panicking on the real deal in June.

It's rough because LG is the only section where you walk away knowing you either destroyed it or bombed it. I left June knowing exactly what I had to do -even after countless hours of TLS style prep and games work- and carried that attitude for the October test. It doesn't matter how much LG practice you do, bombing the Games is a very, very real thing that happens to MANY hard studiers. Hopefully you got a great score anyway and never have to think about the test again. If not, here's some TLS wisdom that I received, and thought I'd pay it forward (pardon any pedantic tone):

You need to own what happened. Simply put, it's not happening again. This is your attitude. You must remind yourself that Logic Games is your focus. Make photocopies of FULL LG SECTIONS only. Preferably 1-40 or so if you plan on doing a bunch of PTs (which i advise against for a retake, actually...more on that in a moment). Drill those full sections with 25 minutes on the clock, not 30. You want to make sure that even in the worst case scenario, you're doing the full section in 30 minutes at most. Why? On the real deal nerves kick in, which slows us down, and we second guess ourselves/double check work/double check wrong answers. The nerves alone eat up time, force us to misread a rule, etc...so give yourself enough time that even if you flub a diagram or rule or ENTIRE GAME, you have the time to go back and redo it. Freeze up like last time? No worries, take a breath, work through, and you still finish in time.

To become better, you need to become faster. It's that simple. On game day, I'm betting on the guy who averages -2 LG in 25 minutes over the TLS guy who finishes -0 in 35 minutes. You need to become so efficient that even the hardest games look like jokes, and there is literally no game that you can't diagram in 1 minute flat. No matter what the game is, my diagram is instant. It's automatic - sequencing, grouping, in and out. That's it. The trick is to be flexible enough that something weird like movies or whatever is instantly recognized as which diagram (grouping, in this case). I think 7sage has the best free videos out there...the exact same approaches used for every question. I think Dave Hall has some good approaches, and is an excellent resource for more recent tests (60+) that favor those who utilize previous work. I learned to keep my previous work neat and legible so that I could build off of it (the essence of Dave Hall) while diagramming/inferencing/attacking 7sage style. Just an example of how tons of high pressured practice (25 min) gets you to the next level. It's hard, because I know you felt like you were on top of your LG game and were as strong as can be. I felt that way too, and found out it's simply not good enough. Get fast enough that you are ALWAYS 3 games complete, 100% perfect by 20 minutes. You won't be that fast on test day for obvious reasons, but if you can prep at that pace constantly, you're set - I promise. Cliffs: Prepping full sections only, at least one a day, shooting for 25 minutes and limited brain power (auto pilot).

Final bits of advice that were passed to me: Try to get excited for December. You can't wait, finally, after weeks and months, you get your revenge! You get to kill it! Amazing feeling. By the time test time rolls around, thoughts of a tough LG section will make you smile because you know what a f*n joke it is for you. What happened could never possibly happen again. That's where your confidence will be again after you focus on becoming LG hero. Look forward to December, get pumped. (LG was my first section. I'm not an engineer and am prone to careless mistakes and anxiety, and took my test at a large state university in a packed auditorium. Guess what? LG section 1. When I saw that page, I couldn't wait to begin. I smiled to the heavens that I don't have to wait any longer. You bet my page turn was the first sound in the auditorium.)

Don't focus on PTs this go around. I'm in the camp that TLS places way too high a value on PTs vs. raw book work. I agree that PTS are essential, and tons indeed, but you don't need to be freaking yourself out every week with how a new PT score went, or that you missed a Q and what that means, etc. Drill, baby, drill. Even when you start PTing, keep up that hunger for LG.

Hope any of this long winded, half sober banter helps you out any; I was lucky to find TLS a tremendous reassurance for my retake, and received this great advice. I just wanted to pass the TLS good karma to you. Take a breath, stay strong, and go back with a newfound hunger. You're going to be better than ever.

Just got home from work to see dat qt LSAT Trainer chilling on my front step (after chatting with Amazon a couple of times to make it happen.) This is about to be the most exciting Halloween ever as I pound through mad pages in the Trainer. I'm actually feeling pretty jazzed about prepping for December after a strong PT last night. Any one else celebrating Halloween with hours of LSAT prep?
