Hey all, I have the following materials at my disposal, I was wondering if anyone had anything they think I should add?

All 3 Manhattan Books
Trainer
Powerscore LG & Workbook
PTs 39-69 [70 as well]
All Cambridge Packets

It should be noted that I'm not trying to cram all these into the next month, I've went through most of them. I'm just curious if there are any additional suggestions?

I'm feeling like the Trainer is a great way to ease one back into the test.

Are you talking about the LR part? I just blasted through the flaw chapters last night and they were pretty different. I'll probably skip the LG part and head for RC which is where I need the most help.

Yes. And just the overall feel of the book is making waaaay more sense to me.

Worked like a charm.

omg. I think I might have actually cried on the spot if I had that setup.

I think three consecutive LRs would be pretty damn shitty.

eta or having LG 5th after nothing but RC/LR.

Yes. It was lol Especially since RC was last for me and I just didn't have the focus I needed at that point :/

Couldn't agree more. I was super hesitant to jump back in but I started the Trainer last night and I'm feeling great!

Ive also done this after an October total bomb and I think the trainer does a great job breaking down LR and RC. Only problem is his system (subgroups, lower case letters, Os and / to determine spaces) is very different then say 7Sage or PS. With only a month and about 1/3 through the trainer, I feel that it may be counterproductive to adapt the Trainer's LG process.
Any thoughts?

If it's entry-level, it will probably be a very typical interview process like any other.

For those of you following the Trainer 4 week schedule... Am I reading this incorrectly or is he suggesting no PTs weeks 2 and 3 and five PTs week 4?

I started at like 0-3 wrong in the summer and was drilling LR and working with 7sage for LG, both complemented by the respective bibles. But then close to the test day I began to get 4-7 wrong on RC with the occasional -3.

Did the sections really get that much harder in the recent tests? Trainer should be here today so I hope that will help but was wondering if anyone has similar experience.

October LSAT (165) was LR1: -3 RC: -6 LG:-3 LR2: -6. The second LR was because I couldn't divorce myself from how uncertain I felt in the games section (the movie question to be specific)--I am also working with Manhattan LR right now. So moving on after a section mentally is definitely something I should work on. I was average PTing at 169 and would love to get that or above it in December. I have a 3.95 and just feel like I let myself down.

I am not sure if the RC has actually gotten harder in recent years or if you just psyched yourself out? Do you happen to know which kinds of RC sections you struggle on? If you happen to struggle with the comparative passages then the recent tests would obviously be more challenging for you.

I actually find with RC that the harder I try to find the answer, the more likely I am to get the questions wrong. I used to approach it as just long form LR, and I know a lot of people use this method, but whereas with LR I can isolate specific words or phrases in the mini prompt that make my answer choice absolutely correct, with RC it takes far too long to go back and try and find these bits of evidence in the passage. On recent tests especially, I find that if I read quickly and just pay attention to a few basic things, I rarely need to refer back to the passage. I think of it like this: "these questions are easier than you think they are, just pick the most obvious choice." In LR the answer choices really try to trick you, but I don't see that as much in RC. The questions simply want to know about what you just read. It's like in college when your buddy didn't do the assigned reading and wants you to just give a quick summary. If you can give a quick summary, you should be able to answer the questions. So just read close enough that you can summarize it for your lazy friend.

If you are struggling specifically with the comparative passages, I think you can improve this a lot. With practice I found the comparative passage to be much easier than the single ones. Basically it is a gigantic structure of the argument section. I do these last because if I am short on time, I can usually speed read through them, get the gist of each passage, and be able to answer the questions more effectively than the single passages where you really need to understand more of the nuances of the arguments and evidence. I find I just need to read for these sorts of things:

1. What specific things (evidence, cause, example, effect etc...) are mentioned explicitly in one or both of the passages?
2. What do the authors agree/disagree about?
3. What is the point of having two passages? What is their relationship to one another? If the two people were talking, what is the second author trying to accomplish by making his point after listening to the first author speak?

The first one is a little harder, but the second 2 things are basically 80% of all of the comparative reading questions.

thanks so much! it actually isn't the comparative sections that get me. maybe I am psyching myself out.

your first explanation "the harder you try etc" might be where I am coming from. I dont think I had too much pressure when I first started taking PTs and even welcomed a RC as a breather. Then I think I screwed up on a couple and flipped out, making me over-conscious during and dreading the RC section.

I might disregard his suggestion. I want to PT as much as my schedule allows.

Same. I'm just gonna work through the Trainer at a pretty fast pace and fit in a lot of PTs throughout my prep.

For anyone looking for the synchro site, http://besynchro.com/pages/genesis.

Was wondering if anyone knows if that's the only place you can get it? Was hoping for amazon to maybe make it a bit cheaper, but searching on amazon, I could only find yugioh cards....lol

The flaw drill in the Trainer where you go through the four scenarios is neat. Feel like the LSAT muscles are getting warmer.

It's out of stock on Amazon at the moment, but they told me Amazon should be restocking soon. :)

Ok that's pretty much my plan too. Glad I'm not the only one! Also, does anyone have a good plan for the week of the test? Basically what I am asking is when do you stop studying and just relax?

Amazon sold out last week. It might be back soon, but with the TLS discount code, it's cheaper on the website!

Ahh thank you thank you. Got some amazon credit though, which was why I was asking specifically for Amazon haha

Everybody is talking about the Trainer here, and now I'm tempted to buy it too. But is it still helpful at this point? I've done over 100 PTs now (including repeats) and I would assume I'm already familiar with the fundamentals.

Question for those of you who have studied intensively for the Oct test: Do you think the Trainer still helps at this point? Does it teach you new things/skills that you have not yet known?
