Sort of a lurker here, but hoping to get more active on this thread. I finished the flaw section of the Trainer today and feel really good about it. It was great to brush up on some of the LR basics, especially since I went -5 on test day. I felt like I was getting back into the groove and am actually really excited to dive into the other sections, which I'm usually worse at.

Also caved and bought synchro so hopefully I'll get an energy boost -- getting back into the work/school/study grind is killing me! Thanks for the entertainment/encouragement/advice everyone!

The way I answered the question was as follows:

I noticed that the first premise only mentions the main purpose of "most" criminal organizations is to generate profit. Whereas the conclusion makes an assertion about "all" criminal organizations undoubtedly trying to become increasingly involved in these areas (which supposedly have the capacity to generate "enormous profits"). I thought that the shift in modifiers from "most" to "all" bridged the gap, in and of itself. To clarify, leaving the first premise at "most" criminal organizations leaves open the possibility that the main purpose of "some" criminal organizations might NOT be to generate profits - which would prompt the gap between the premises and the conclusion.

So in order for the conclusion to be properly drawn, we would have to ensure that the main purpose of any and all criminal organizations is to generate profit - not just most.

Hi guys. Sorry for not being able to make the PT57 review. However, I have good news: I did take PT 57 today after having taken and reviewed PT 45 (two PTs in a day ties my all time record).

PT 57

Score: 177 (after blind, 180)

LG: -3 (all left blank)
LR: -1
LR: -0
RC: -0

I did this PT for the first time a little over two months ago (scored a 166 then) so obviously memory played a big role on this 177. The first time I took it, it wound up perfectly predicting my official score. So maybe I'll get a 177 come December?

All bad jokes aside, I found this retake terrifically useful though especially for RC (the bane of all my LSAT woes). I was able to work from wrong to right on all the answers and catch the subtle nuances that make a choice right and another wrong. LG was very surprising because I finished toy dinosaurs with over 10 minutes to spare and still ran out of time on the last game. Lack of space and me writing liberally and largely = fail. On the bright side, my brute forcing was in full flight as I forced myself to work with only one diagram for the dinosaurs game. (As an aside, I think this is something that is becoming under-emphasized given people's insistence on making every inference and drawing all possibilities up front. On the actual exam, things may work work out so well and a missed inference here or an unexplored scenario there could spell major trouble if you aren't able to rely on brute force to pick you up. Disclaimer: I'm definitely not advocating a pure brute force strategy.)

So this makes it six PTs in six consecutive days. I officially start the Trainer tomorrow with 95% emphasis on RC. Here's to hoping for the best!

Question, I'm wondering if I should just take 9 different PTs (61-70) now before December but take them each twice just to reinforce fundamentals and build confidence. What are your thoughts on this? I would be drilling with the other PTs but PTing with only these.

Melody explained this succinctly on previous page. For SA, a broadened scope will get the job done.

1. My synchro is coming in tomorrow!
2. I still struggle with strengthen and weaken questions. Hopefully the trainer can fix this. If not, I'm hopeless.

You're not hopeless :) The trainer had helped me a lot with weaken questions and I've only been using it since Wednesday. Good luck and I hope the Trainer helps for you!

I like how this thread is about to eclipse the December 2013 Prep thread.

It could be a combination of us being postwhores in addition to the Oct test simply being more popular to take than the Dec test, so the people needing to retake Oct still outnumber the people just taking Dec on here.

Tea I noticed you mentioned the India tests earlier, are they predictive PTs or just good for drills?

IMO they are better than drills -- they are good for doing fresh material as a PT, for building endurance, for trying out new strategy.

The LG is a bit easier, and a bit different, but I found it helpful as it prepared me for anything weird they could throw my way in October.

LR is about the same.

RC might be slightly easier, and no comparative passage, at least in the 2 that I did.

I don't think there's a scoring key, so it's not predictive in that sense. But it is predictive in finding where weaknesses and strengths are. Do them, especially if you are out of or nearly out of fresh material.

1 and 3 have only four answer choices for each question and 4 is really short (92 questions). Also, I've only glanced through them so far, but I'm pretty sure most if not all the logic games are from (older) NA PTs just with different names and variables.

So imo, they're more useful for drilling except for maybe Test #2. If you're going to take the other ones as PTs, make sure you limit your time significantly (5-10 minutes).

Alright I've still got PT 39-45 untouched so maybe I'll use some of the India PTs as a experimentals
