Well I guess technically speaking I don't drink coffee right before PTs either, so that would put me in the water camp. But I do drink it before the real thing.
See, I never want to do something that I hadn't regularly done. So if I were you, I'd be drinking a cup of coffee before PTs.

Holy shit. I took this entire week off to drink a lot and sulk over october scores, and I just started studying today and reading this thread makes me feel like such a slacker already. thanks a lot guys :P

I performed at the lower end of my PTs in Oct (169) and i'm really hoping to get at least a 171 in december. I'm totally out of fresh materials so I was just going to drill sections and re-do the more recent PTs but I feel like that's not going to be enough. I'm totally lost in this re-take business!!!!!! ugh why didn't i just do better the first time :(

On October i went -1 LG, -5 RC, and -7 LR. Usually I'm -4 or better or LR so I don't know what happened on test day. I've aways been crap at RC and I don't know if its worth trying to improve it in a month. I'm ok (-3 to -4 with the occasional -0) at LG but I felt like the October games was unnaturally easy, I don't want to bank on getting equally as easy games in december. I have no idea what sections i should focus on more for december! any advice?

Just an update. I'm the poster who hadn't opened up his score e-mail. I was afraid that a low score would discourage me from studying and that it'd place additional pressure on me.

Just opened it.

I'm so happy.

170.

I don't even know how this happened. I've been averaging 168 over the past month.
That's great! Are you still going to retake then? Seems like if you did better than your average, you've hit your target score already. :D

My last three PTs have been 168, 171 and 168, so I'm not sure how I feel about retaking. In all honesty, I think I'm done.

I'm a URM and my GPA isn't bad--I wouldn't want to risk scoring lower than 170. I'm leaning toward focusing on my PS and DS over the next couple of weeks, then applying around Thanksgiving. I was expecting a score in the low 160s, so I'm stunned/shocked/happy.
Congrats!! Sounds like you are all set. Good luck!

BTW, I still can't believe that you were able to hold yourself for so long before opening that email... It would drive me crazy.

The LSAT Trainer just arrived last night. Will start on it today!

Also, I did PT 70 last night...wasn't feeling too good. Going to grade/review it tonight.

I will like to join depending on what time the review would be?

Also, I tried Synchro for the first time today! Mixed it with milk. Used 3 tablespoons instead of 4. The taste was kind of what I expected when I read about what was in it. Definitely tastes like plants lol. Not a huge fan of it, but I mean if it helps then I'm happy. As for energy and such...not too sure yet if it's helped. I was doing a warm up section, but kind of was falling asleep or dozing off, but that might be due to the fact I'm still rusty and getting back into things (which also worries me since its like a month away to December :? ). Sleep schedule kind of got messed up too because of this last weekend excursion.

Drank a cup of coffee and I already feel better though. Hopefully after like a week of taking Synchro maybe I will notice some kind of awesome uplifting change. I do believe it will work, so if anything placebo!

I have to stop taking days off from my review. I am going to do PT 58 games during lunch today and then the rest of the test after work and before our review session.

I really need to sit down and plan out my next four and a half weeks so I know what I am supposed to be doing. Anyone have a schedule they would like to share

I'm actually pretty curious to know how your retake went/felt. I know many people (myself included) considered PT70 on the easier side, but I still think LR2 was one of the harder LR sections I've seen. Could have just been testing conditions, though.
same here, i wonder how people who are doing 70 as a PT feel about it in general. i cant separate the traumatizing memories enough from the experience to be entirely objective, lol. i honestly though the lr/rc wasnt bad at all coming out of the test, with lr2 a bit more difficult than average, but i thought lg was a lot more difficult than other people did (obviously).
I'm definitely going to redo 70 as a PT for December. I think the post-traumatic LSAT syndrome that redoing 70 will induce is a good way to prepare for test conditions. I'm saving 70 until mid-November when I'm back into the LSAT groove, but redoing 70 is one of the only ways I can come up with of simulating the stress level of test day.

For example, when I was prepping for October, I saved PT61 for the Saturday before the exam to simulate the most accurate psychological distress I could since that was my sibling's real LSAT....which got him into HYS. Sadly, even that did not simulate realistic test day panic as I sailed through the PT but bombed my actual LSAT. I've been considering having my younger sibling -- who is a frickin' logic savant (not the one in law school right now, for the record) -- take some PTs with me to create a competitive, panic-inducing environment. Other than that, Idk.....maybe I'll hire a drill sergeant to yell at me while I test or something.

What's everyone else doing to overcome the psychological hurdles?

I took October but not the North America PT70 version, and did PT70 to procrastinate writing my PS. I found it to be fairly standard — LR1 was rather easy, and the RC passages were all pretty interesting and so the section managed to hold my attention without conscious effort on my part.

LR2 was definitely on the harder side — I missed three questions on that section alone (also, though, I had not looked at anything LSAT-related for three weeks when I took this test). LG was pretty tough for me, but that isn't saying much because I've always struggled with games.

Overall, though, I think I've seen a trend of pretty difficult and strange LR starting from 69 (that lottery question was just-out-of-this-world hard) that continued through 70. Can't wait to see PT71 ;).
