Early morning workouts: gathering suggestions

Postby Kimikho » Tue Oct 01, 2013 10:49 am

So tons of people are planning on going for a quick run before the test. If I could do that I would be a REALLY happy camper...but I have a stress fracture and can't.

Does anyone have any workout suggestions? I would love to get my heart pumping for ten minutes but everything I'm finding puts stress on my leg. A good yoga video maybe?

Options that are already out:
- buying a folding exercise bike (too expensive (though if I need to retake I'll def consider it more), plus I normally live literally two minutes from a gym in any direction, so it is kind of a waste of money)
- going to the gym (I'm going home the night before, and my parent's gym is ten minutes away--that's an extra twenty minutes, on top of finding parking. I've never been to that gym at six in the morning, but from what I've heard it is packed)
- anything that puts stress on my right leg, which includes...
    jumping rope
the elliptical (not that I have a machine)
standing on it for a long time
    the obvious (running)
    jumping jacks

I have...
- a yoga mat
- a Wii fit that I am not super sure how to use
- maybe $50 to throw at this problem, tops. Obviously I'd prefer not to buy anything, though. I checked Craigslist for exercise bikes and the closest one within a reasonable price is 2+ hours away.

TL;DR: give me your at-home pre-test workouts that do not involve running or putting any stress on legs/ankles.

Awesome stretching followed by crunches followed by a light weight set?

Doing something you've never done before the test doesn't really sound like a good idea

Dude. Sun salutations.

If you have the patience for yoga, a couple rounds with some mindful breathing can be very very energizing. I don't think there's any particular stress to the leg/ankle region (depends on how sensitive you are right now I guess, you could probably modify a few poses so you use your good leg to prop yourself up)

I swear by that shit in the mornings (totally not a morning person)

Here's youtube tutorial that's pretty deece

Edit: This guy is crazy bendy, I don't look nearly as fluid when I do it so don't feel bad if it isn't effortless.

Lie on your back and do mountain climbers, then get up and do 8 hooks on each side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMXP7UMi4Ag (minus the running of course) Put some effort into your hooks like you're knocking out the LSAT (the lady in the video doesn't do a very good job at the hooks).
