The advantage you speak of is pretty insignificant if you can score a few points higher in December.

If you have to ask, you're not ready (ready in terms of achieving your true LSAT potential). If there was a method that can bring someone from the 160s to the 170s in two weeks, let me know. Let all of TLS know.

If you think you can get a 170 by October, then that's more understandable. That IS doable.

If I were you and were feeling confident, I'd just sign up. If you're not ready, just cancel the test and take December. $160 is chump change in the grand scheme of things.

Then we're in the same boat. How many times have you taken? Can you take December if you don't succeed in October? If you can, I'd just take both exams if you're unwilling to sit out another cycle.

If you've been studying for close to two years as you've indicated, there is no magic technique that is going to get you there. You need to be systematically reviewing your PTs for errors and sloppy thinking. You have a huge sample size to judge where you're going wrong. Isolate those areas and eliminate weaknesses.

Not true at all. It's a different market nowadays. Schools don't give a shit. Outside of HYS, it doesn't matter. When the T14s are trying to keep their medians, they'll take any high scorer they can get. 170+s are becoming a rare commodity.

It's not a gamble. I'm serious. There is a TLSer (forgot his name) that took the LSAT FOUR times. He got to JS2 for Harvard before getting rejected.

I aim to replicate his success.

<------- 4th time taker this December.

Take a look at this too:

Schools only have to report one score to the ABA. I don't think UCLA will give a shit if you get a 160, 160, and then a 169. They'll welcome you with open arms after their median just dropped a point and their 25th percentile dropped to a 162 from a 164.

You may need to at least consider the possibility that you have an LSAT ceiling, and that you've hit it. I know that TLS sometimes gives one the impression that everyone can clear 175 with enough effort. But it isn't true. I'm not trying to be discouraging, but if you've really been at this for two years, and you have a tutor, and you're still PTing at 166, then I think it might be time to expand your horizons beyond HYS.

maybe you still haven't clicked in lr. rereading some of the guides might help? if you've been studying for a long time, a jump in lr isn't impossible. the only thing i guess to worry about is that it's become a habit for you to do lr in a certain way that it's hard to change it. but do you get all of the questions correct untimed?

so you get all of the questions correct untimed? interesting...
is it the time that's influencing your accuracy then?
why don't you do a new pt. be very very careful and see what happens. when's the latest new pt you've done and how did you do on that?

ahhhh. i remember pt 60. i got 6 wrong for the rc section. but i only got 3 wrong total for both lr sections and 0 wrong for lg.

take out your pts, go over the ones you've gotten wrong and the ones that you weren't sure about. oh and how much time does it take you to finish the 2 sections. do you barely finish on time? or do you have extra time to go back
identify types (if you can), reread manhattan lr guide for the specific types.
if you can truly say you understand every each question.
then relax, do a new pt and see what happens.
try to get lg to -0 on the next pt.
sometimes concentrating on past mistakes for a day or two can help you identify traps/tricks on the new pts more easily and clearly.

Do you take the time to understand what the passage is saying and dissect it if it's an assumption family question, or if it's anything in the whole inference family, take the time to follow each piece of information to its natural conclusion?

And do you take the time to know why each answer is right and wrong?

Especially important is finding out the common thread that links that particular question to its respective question type. Every question has these, and if you just look at the question on its lonesome then you only get good at that question, but lack the necessary knowledge to see how another question is exactly the same, but only has different subject matter.

It's not so much a reiteration as that they all share certain commonalities in either approach or the flaw involved.

I mean, it's not like one flaw question can be much more different from another flaw question, or that one necc. assumption question can be that much different from another one.

You use the exact same approach for each question type. As such, one can expect the answers to follow some general train of thought as well.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
