I have a confession to make: Reading comprehension section might be my favorite section.

How? This section always kills me.

I plan to drill RC all next week along with PTs. Do you guys suggest using the 50s or use the Cambridge packet? I read somewhere that it's better to drill a full RC section rather than the by type.

What's everyone's testing schedule look like for this coming week?

I'm going to do 2 or 3 more LG sections tonight; PT 65 and 66 are Tues/Thurs this week, and tomorrow I'm kicking off drilling with a RC test (taken like a normal test, but with only RC sections).

Hey, have a question for you.

Do you re-drill the same games/the ones you already completed? Do you re-drill the ones you did "well" on?

I highly recommend re-doing games, actually. I'm more or less back to where I was a while ago on LG, and the way I got there (-0/-1) was by re-doing games. I actually have a pretty crazy system that DEFINITELY works... Try it if you'd like I've recommended it to a few people, and they've benefited from it.


Zac's weird LG study method:

Day 1: Print 4 copies each of 5 games. Do all of those games, and mark your times on them -- take as long as you need to get every question perfect, but don't waste any time. Grade, then IMMEDIATELY re-do all of the games. This time, force yourself to logically eliminate all wrong answer choices before choosing the right answer (this is crucial -- without doing this, re-doing games is useless because you'll just remember half the answers).

Now you have 2 copies of these 5 games left -- we'll call these (A) games.

Day 2: 4 copies each of 5 different games. Repeat day 1 with these games (we can call them (B) games). After you're done, do your 3rd copies of your (A) games.

At this point, you will have done your (A) games 3 times and your (B) games 2 times. Put the 4th copy of your (A) games aside, and repeat Day 2 for a new set of 5 games; after this, you'll set the 4th copies of your (B) games aside.

Do this until you have 15 or 20 games put aside (your 4th copies of A, B, and C -- and D if you're up for it-- games). Take a day off from LG, and the next day, do all of them back-to-back, making sure to force yourself to logically eliminate all wrong answers before selecting a right one.


I know this sounds a little strange, but the idea is to make the process extremely fluid, and to ingrain the methods. In doing this, it becomes super obvious that all LG are basically the same -- and by forcingi yourself to go through the sames again but actually eliminate wrong answer choices, you develop really good habits.


Convoy, that sounds good -- but I might think about reversing that; I think 3/2 is great, and will totally work -- but on the other hand, I don't know if I would want to drill too much the week of the test -- I might focus more on PT's -- so I might drill more next week and only do 2 PTs, then cut out drilling (or back it off) and do 3 PTs the week of the test

Either way though, looks good to me!

Am I missing something? Where are you getting five games from? Each section has only four games. It could be that my brain is fried. Lol

You could use 4 games, or 6 or 10 or whatever number -- it's by game, not by section

I'm taking 20 credit hours at school, so its kind of difficult

how are you surviving? I am taking 12 hrs just so I can have enough time to take PTs and drill.

I'm taking the typical 15 credits and I have two jobs and an internship, but most of my classes are (intentionally) pretty light on the work load, so it's actually been not so bad for me. If I were taking the same classes I took two semesters ago, I'd be... dead. It also helps that my SO has taken up all of the household chores that we used to share.

I make use of every minute that I have. 4 credits are online too so that helps.

Indeed. While I'm fortunate to have been able to put aside everything but this test until its over, it's all about time budgeting and doing what you have to do.

I agree that you should always be able to -- but ii also think that especially with LR (and to some extent LG and RC) -- zoning in on the right answer and moving on is a crucial skill. On LR questions 1-12 when PTing, I eliminate all answer choices for maybe 1 or 2 of them, but most of them I scan for what makes sense and move on.

I definitely agree that when blind reviewing though, you must sometimes when drilling, it should be 100% for accuracy -- but I think you have to practice speed, too

Bicycles was tough, but the other games didn't feel bad; I didn't have much time left, but I made it. I must have spent 13 minutes on bicycles though.

That passage is one the rewards tracking view points. There's 4. Author, two critics, and Dostoyevsky. One of the critics viewpoints is obscured.

The phrase "it presupposes what it attempts to prove" always gets me. I looked it up in manhattan LR under abstract language however they don't have any examples of it.

Would someone elaborate on it for me. Provide me with an example of what is meant by it? It always gets me.
