Hey Flash 21, keep your head up man. I have been studying sine last october, and I am am currently stuck in low 150's. My last score was 149, with my highest score being 158. My first diagnostic was 139!

Don't listen to anything negative, if you truly wanted then work hard and try your best man! I am not saying you will hit 180 but hey you can probably score 160+ if you work hard. and that is a high percentile. Word of advice, keep positive, given that we are all trying our best, and trust me! stressing out will not help at all, it will make things worse and will drop your score so quickly that you will feel like you just fell in a inescapable black hole.

@ hotguy and flash 21 PM me with your info and we can get a study group going.

Couldn't agree more! If you set your mind to it and work hard, you will see results! No doubt about that.
Erickt26, what info do you need? Would skype be the best program for several people doing a study group at the same time? Pm me.

Should we be PTing more than 1 per week at 78 days to go?

I also ran out of time in LR1 (didn't get to the last 3 questions) but went -2 on the ones that I did try. I OBVIOUSLY have a problem with my speed so I need to focus on that. Any suggestions??
re: timing -- what exactly is it that is slowing you down? are you spending too much time per q because you're missing information the first time you read things through, are you getting stuck on one q and refusing to move on, are you just confused about what they're asking, etc.?

I'm almost 100% sure that my problem is that I re-read the stimulus too often. Probably about 65% of the questions in LR require me to re-read the stimulus. I think it's because I try to read it faster to save time but I end up just having to reread it. Anything you'd suggest doing aside from slowing down, bee?

Thanks a lot in advance, you've been incredibly helpful in this thread and in October!

Anybody who is down for a study group please pm me you email address. Essentially we would synchronize PT and take them in the same week that way we could discuss question with a wider range of opinions. I think this would maximize our understanding of the LSAT by forcing us to come up for solutions(real) for question each individual group member may have.

7sage recommends doing discussion as a part of blind review.

Usually when you're reading with a focus on the core argument, it's much easier to not have to re-read.

no problem! i'm glad i can help in some small way (:

do you read the stem first? if not, i'd switch to stem first RIGHT AWAY. reading the stem first and fulling understanding what they want you to look for helps immensely with reading the stim efficiently. is the logic of the stim itself giving you trouble? like are you having problems finding the logical gap/assumption/flaw the first time through the stimulus? if so, i'd recommend drilling. i know that sounds boring and awful, but if you drill enough, eventually the stims all become a series of mechanical pieces in lr. you'll be able to immediately see any places where the pieces don't quite fit together correctly, and the answers will come quickly and confidently after that. the one thing that's really helpful to realize imo is that, in essence, all lr q's are repeats of other lr q's. the lsat repeats the same basic logic over and over again, disguised in different ways (with the rare exception, of course). what helps with speed is being able to immediately recognize what you're dealing with and applying past experience.

are you struggling with formal logic/diagramming? if so, i'd drill that specifically. diagramming is a time waster on the lsat, the faster you can do it the better. if you're not struggling with it, i'd start diagramming stims that you usually do in your head so that you can really see physically/spatially how the argument "fits" together. it really helps with being able to recognize the logical foundation of an argument automatically.

one last thing--i actually said this in a pm earlier today, but you need to pick a timing schedule that works for you and STICK with it. strictly. you need to be disciplined and move on when you need to move on. the ultimate goal is to rack up as many points as possible. hard questions aren't weighed more heavily than easy ones. when you run out of time on question 20, you're missing the freebies on 21-26. often the harder, longer questions are clustered around 15-19 (imo), and if you get stuck there, you're missing points you could have easily scooped up later on. the more you do LR, the better your instincts will become. go with your gut if it's taking too long to decide on an answer, and MOVE ON. come back if you have time. often, your first instinct will be correct; you'll subconsciously have figured it out already because you've probably seen a very similar question on a previous section. i personally finish 20 q's in 20 minutes, if not faster, and portion out my last minutes according to how my section went (either reviewing uncertain questions or carefully working through 21-26 if they're really complicated). i also usually flip ahead to see if i have a section with 25 or 26 q's, and adjust accordingly.

You know, I've been reading convos about stem first for years and always brush it off. You've convinced me to try it so I'm gonna finally do it and see how it goes. Everything else you mentioned doesn't seem to be a problem. I've been drilling for a few months (was going for Oct) so I'm OK with logic/assumption/flaw ID. Seriously though, if stem first works out for me I'll owe you several post-LSAT drinks. :)

+10 on reading question stem first. By now everyone should be doing that. The amount of time saved is unbelievable.

Took a day break today to instead focus on my PS (since I realized I hadn't really been giving it the sufficient attention that it should be getting...)

That there has been another pain in my rump....i can't really convey very well why my life is logically leading to law school. if you ask me why i can give you a good explanation but there isn't a story that best explains it...ugggggh. why can't it all be logic games

Took it way easier today too, sorta like a day off. Caught up on breaking bad(to those of you watching it, like wtf). Still did a chapter in lsat trainer and half mlsat lg.
Vicpin5190, why don't you write something a bit more abstract, I read a pt once about how she was one of the first women to climb a mountain. It was interesting and completely non related to law school.

Edit:I purchased 7sage. Fml at this point the only things lsat related that I didn't purchase is the bp movie.
