RCX - 5 (PT35, Ronald Dworkin)
RC −3 (I’m no fan of Japanese sculptors)

I’ll gladly take a −3 on such a tough RC section esp. when its the fifth section but −4 on LR when its the second section is unacceptable. Will review tonight. if any of you smart peeps have comments about PT59, please post or pm me.

That 3rd passage was brutal, yet it was the 2nd passage where I lost the majority of my points when I took it (I too went -3). Games were easy, looks like we went the opposite on LRs except I went way worse on my bad section.

I thought the questions were harder for nuguchi(spelled wrong?). But the passage itself was pretty easy.
Really didn't like that lr question about understanding words, dictionary, babies. And the flaw question about the packages 5%. Other than that, this test had such a nice curve.

The testing Q was also total BS. Shouldn’t have picked B. Also, I’ve been tripping up on Role questions lately but these used to be a guaranteed point. I may drill them if it persists.

I’m also going to do a “last 10 qs” drill probably next week, just purely drill Qs 15-25/26 from PTs 1 − 30 or however many before I get tired :D

Was pretty exhausted today after work so I opted to take a lighter day,

i.e. DRILL BABY DRILL

Did Must Be True's (Level 4), Point at Issue (Level 2), and Complete the passage (Level 1 and 2).

I like the idea of drilling the last 15-25 problems, i think i may also get in on that.

I regret posting ITT once, cause now its always at the top of view my posts. Anyway, good luck everyone.
Retake until you score as high as you possibly can. Swear.Or else you'll end up like me, a 2L with no job prospects! You should even consider retaking in June to see if its worth it to sit out a cycle.

What school do you attend? And what do you think attributed to you striking out?

How many more PTs do you plan on taking?

I've got 17 left on my schedule.

I'm at 8 myself, 2 each week. I just got my synchro in the mail so I'm going to test it out tonight.

17 is a LOT for 1 month. is there a particular reason why you're taking so many?

Pretty much four a week until go time, doesn't seem heavy to me. Isn't that TLS consensus on how many PTs to do? I also need to catch up after being lazy.

tls hivemind says 3/week is a heavy schedule. i mean, if 4/week doesnt burn you out, by all means go for it, but dont be afraid to slow down a bit to avoid overworking yourself.

How should I catch up?

what exactly do you mean by catch up? what are you behind on? imo you shouldnt just take pts so that you can say you took every single pt ever, you should take them strategically. i'd finish up whichever 50s/60s you havent done and call it a day (unless you've done the vast majority of them already).

I haven't done most of the 50s/60s.

By catch up I mean make up for the last several months of not studying very much.

whats your current pt range and goal score? if youre at where you want to be, i'd rethink taking 4 pts/week. if youre lagging behind onjust one section, i'd concentrate on drills more than pts.

p.s. excellent music taste (going by your avatar)

Hahaa, you're the first person to comment, kinda surprised. So thanks for that.

PTing about 6 points lower than where I need to be. About even on all sections; unsure about specific question types.

I'm at a T30 with a big scholarship, so its not like I was supposed to get a job at OCI. I dont think i got an SA at OCI cause my grades where good but not special and Ive never really been a good interviewee. If I would have retaken my high 160s score my odds of finding solid employment may have been way better. Luckily, my debt is managble. If you can't pay off your debt without working at a big firm, don't go to law school anywhere from gulc down. PI jobs are too hard to get to count on debt forgiveness.

ahhh i see. this late in the game, i'd try to pinpoint specific weaknesses and drill the shit out of them. i get the rationale behind that many pts, but idk... for me personally, doing an assload of tests just isn't that effective. pts (for me) are about maintaining scores and keeping fresh on all the sections. drills are what i did to improve. if you're seeing improvement doing 4/week, i guess carry on, but if your scores are stagnant, i'd try a different tactic. just my 2 cents.

eta: neutral milk hotel is one of my favs :D

Are you going to any of the re-union shows?

Plan for tonight is to drill sections I'm 90% comfortable with (so that I can put them aside and come to them again when they re-appear on tests) and then get dirty with the other questions starting Monday, after I do three PTs this weekend. Drilling / reading M, T, Th, F, PTs on W and Sat./Sun.

Opted to postpone my PT63 take today to tomorrow, I was doing some warm up and was just not focusing well. I think the the work day took it out of me, so I felt it wasn't worth it to waste a PT when I'm not in the zone.

The synrcho didn't quite kick in, but maybe I was just more drained from work today than I thought.

PT 63
LR #1 - 1
LG - 2
LR #2 - 4
RC - 4
Raw = 90
Score 170

This PT went alright, I believe I got away with murder on the RC and that it could have gone way worse as I know I guessed on a lot on the third passage. Will do a thorough review probably tonight. LRs felt fine though, and I just have to make sure not to make careless errors in the games.

Taking PT65 tomorrow.

Hour long review of the test. Looks like in RC I probably went a little overboard on marking up passages, but that third passage was legitimately difficult in terms of overall read and questions. I found during review that actually drawing out what phenomenon that they were talking about helped me understand some of the answers more. Need to maybe slow down just a little on these PT60's reading as there seem to be way less "in the passage directly" questions that I was enjoying os much in the 40's and 50's.

Good thing I'm getting on this now, with a solid 4 weeks to get this settled. More and more its RC that's going to determine my score on game day.

General advice here is to decrease your reading time, possibly use less annotation to do this, and use this increased time to work on the more LR-like q's in the 60s. Lots of weird forms of inference q's come up, like choosing a workable title for passages, for example. There are also some difficult parallel reasoning-ish q's, or 'analogous situation' q's. Reading for structure still helps with most of RC, granted, but just make sure you're giving yourself enough time for these other q's.
