This is hilarious to me because I kind of quit for the same reason. I literally woke up 5-6 times a night the first two weeks in. I used to smoke everyday but just a bowl or two after I was done with all my schoolwork, LSAT studies etc. Now I don't even miss it, which is great.

People get discouraged too easily.

Also, this bit seems like a hasty judgment for what seems to be little or no exposure to the field:
The deception, the cutthroat attitudes, the skeeziness of the whole lifestyle was better left to the terrible people who would inevitably end up running the world. Instead, I decided I’d be a writer.

I agree, but I think the comment may have been intended to amuse rather than represent the author's genuine feeling, though I guess it is sort of tough to tell given some of the personal qualities the author confers through his behaviors in the story.

Anyhow, it made me laugh out loud several times. Nice find.
