Update: Feeling fantastic about my progress with LR. Just went -1 combined on timed sections from PT56. Did 15 in 15 and finished under 30 with time to check answers. Looking forward to drilling Cambridge RC and reading more BPLG this weekend. Here's to starting full PTs by January! Cheers.

wow. Lr is making me go nuts. I Just read chp 3 (mlsat) twice (on Sufficient assumption and necessary assumption) - I feel I am kind of getting the hang of it now.

In the next few days, I will drill them till I die, and till I fully understand them -- I will not rest until I get comfortable with them.

If you die, can I have those study materials?

Materials: Trainer, all three Manhattan's, Cambridge Ultimate. Probably going to buy BP LG after hearing all the success stories.

Currently working on Trainer, should finish by the end of the week. Then going to go chapter by chapter in Manhattan followed by Cambridge drilling JL style.

Games are currently my weakest, but I am seeing some improvements. I make silly mistakes all around and my timing is not even CLOSE to real testing conditions for all sections. Still developing skills, then will move to creating habits (h/t Mike the LSAT God).

Looking to this thread for motivation and accountability.

Hey everybody,
I'm pretty new to TLS. Hope you don't mind if I poke around in here. I plan on starting my studying for the June 2014 LSAT in December. I thought I was getting a proactive start on it, but it looks like others have already got the ball rolling (guess I'm not such an over-achiever). This is my plan so far:

I bought the LSAT Trainer, BP Logic Games, Manhattan RC/LG/LR, and I have the Bibles although I'm considering not using the Bibles since I have a lot of material in the first three products.

As I mentioned, I'm going to begin studying in December. When the Spring semester begins, I will do my LSAT studying in the morning before classes. I figure that way I get it done and don't have the option to procrastinate and push it off in place of other homework.

I don't really have a set plan on how many hours to put in each day. I'm thinking on Monday through Thursday, I want to put in about 2 hours a day to begin. On Friday I don't have class, so that day I can put in more. If things are going well with 2 hours in the morning, I could increase that since my first class isn't until 11:00 AM (9:30 AM on T and R).

As far as which books to use, I was thinking that I'd start with the LSAT Trainer then progress to Manhattan. However, I'm not sure if I should go through the Trainer in its entirety, or if I should do one section (LC/RC/LG) at a time per book.

Join the club! I haven't really started prepping too much either, way too exhausted before/after/during work . The LSAT Trainer has been really great so far. Good luck with everything! Keep us posted.

how many lr problems do you guys normally get wrong while drilling lr? (im drilling NA now)

Totally depends on the Q type! When I started drilling MSS and MBT questions, I was getting almost half of them wrong. It was a train wreck. The important thing is to avoid feeling discouraged and try to treat mistakes in drilling as a good sign. Especially at this stage, if you can identify a weakness early on, it becomes much easier to contain and treat before it starts costing you real points.

If I already have the LSAT Trainer would it be overkill to get the 3 Manhattan LSAT books? I noticed some people having all four, but don't they cover the same topics? And doesn't the author of the Trainer work for MLSAT?

TCR typically says that anything you can get your hands on (within reason) may help and if even reading through one section of a different book can help you conceptualize something to make it more concrete in your head it is worth it. What's another $40 when it could mean adding extra scholly money. Someone with a 170 and a 3.90 may get in; someone with a 171 and a 3.90 may get a 20k; someone with a 173 and a 3.90 may get a full ride. Worth it? Sure. Overkill? I don't think it exists in the world of the LSAT.

Just to clarify one point: Mike Kim, the author of the LSAT Trainer, did work for Manhattan, and he contributed a substantial amount of the writing for the MLSAT series. However, the material is covered in a very different way in the Trainer than it is in the Manhattan books. Many of the strategies advocated are profoundly different. I recommend getting both, and melding methods according to your individual needs. In the world of LSAT, it seems that more is (almost) always better. Combining and utilizing diversified learning materials can really only aid you in the process of understanding the common underlying principles.

Checking in everyone. Decided to wait a year and apply. Going for 180. Using manhattan LR, drilling all the Cambridge LR LG RC. From dec to The end of February with a pt at the end of each month. Then I'll do pt 40- 71 from March to June with drills in between. Ready to study!

I'm retaking in June to try to break into the 170s. I'm gonna start studying in March. Probably gonna follow the LSAT Trainer 4 month intensive schedule. So far my only materials are the Trainer and a bunch of PTs. I'm probably gonna do 5-10 more PTs than the schedule calls for, just to be safe. Did all Powerscore books before my first LSAT and only got a 166. Looking to kick it up a notch. Good luck everyone! I'll come hang out more in March!

Good luck! And welcome! The LSAT Trainer has yet to disappoint. I also tried to prep with the Bibles a while back, but Mike's book is way more captivating. Can't wait to start drilling!

As the person who started this thread I really feel like a piece of shit. I haven't studied in like two months. I'm currently back in the states as I have been for the last 25 days. Once I get back to Diego Garcia (where I'm stationed at with the Navy) I really need to go into overdrive. 3+ hours a day of studying. With a 3.09 GPA I really need to kick the LSAT's ass.

I'd love to go to NYU.
