Determinist biologists, like the philosophers of science in the first paragraph, have acceded to intellectual disdain for the merely particular. But why? For what reason? That's what #19 is asking. B is unsupported because we are given nothing concerning the degrees of respect afforded to biologists vs. physicists.

The reason for their emulation of physicists follows the reasoning of the philosophers outlined in the first paragraph. Line 4-10 directly support answer choice C as the reason for the biologists' emulation of the more "universal" physicists.
