Re: 180 watch a scam?
My LSAT days are behind me, but I sure didn't spend money to buy a watch that is the same thing as any other watch, except it only has markings for 35 instead of 60 minutes. They should call it the 166 watch, because 180's pay much less mind to the time.mephistopheles wrote:Clearlynotstefan wrote:It's a perfect storm of absurdity and desperation.MikeSpivey wrote:I can't get enough of this topic and I don't know why.

Re: 180 watch a scam?
Mechanical (automatic) watches are outdated, and inferior technology. They will never keep the same time as a good quartz, and you can always get a self-powering quartz that does not need to be opened. Some have exceptional features, including 'radio' time updates. And the'll never have the maintainance costs of mechanical watches. That said, I'll only wear a mechanical watch.

clearly as loud as possible, so that you can get used to it but your testing mates can't.

Re: 180 watch a scam?
who here has the dough to spend on field testing? I currently use the timex weekender which I believe is the "yellow ticonderoga" of LSAT watches.
--LinkRemoved--
I'm open to a replacement but there's OBVIOUSLY not much time to find one because it's imperative that I prep with my watch sufficiently before the 10th.

i agree with mephistopheles on mechanical watches. considering using my quartz for the lsat though because the crown doesn't screw downPneumonia wrote:if I could just piggyback here:A → B ⊨ ¬B → ¬A wrote: which movement is better for lsat: quartz or automatic

the strap i'm using is a nylon 4 ring zulu-style waterborne that stands up by itself
my bezel is only 60 clicks, so probably using the crown reset because it's sometimes more accurate and it's easy to grab when not wearing it
i can barely hear mine tick at desk level, but i do prefer the sound of the mechanical movement

I'm jealous of your band. I've contrived a semi-reliable way of making mine stand up, but am in the market for a new one mainly to avoid the hassle of rebalancing it after every section. Good call on using the crown reset- I've heard that you need to be aware of AT LEAST 15 second increments. For any who are interested, Timex watches in general, and the Weekender in particular, have ticks that are VERY LOUD.A → B ⊨ ¬B → ¬A wrote: the strap i'm using is a nylon 4 ring zulu-style waterborne that stands up by itself

minimum order is 10 though...
edit- just realized that MIGHT NOT FIT INTO MY ZIPLOCK. would like to re emphasize the need some testers in order to ensure positive outcomes.

would that still be considered a "wristwatch" if the stand couldn't fit a wrist?

Re: 180 watch a scam?
Having a stand like with a 180 watch on it out on the desk on test day would certainly set off a dorkometer alert in the room, that's for sure.A → B ⊨ ¬B → ¬A wrote:holy shit that's not what i was expecting. i don't know if i could keep a straight face.Pneumonia wrote:no need to rig:A → B ⊨ ¬B → ¬A wrote: i thought about rigging something up as a small stand

Re: 180 watch a scam?
It was only a matter of time until someone suggested the ole' pocketwatch. Would this be allowed? LSAC website specifically states wristwatch. Possibly just a colloquialism...
Unfortunately I think the guidelines also rule out that SWEET stand, which explains WHY no one has suggested this option before. OBVIOUSLY if it were allowed then THE STAND WOULD BE TCR.

Not a scam. I was worried I didn't get an email too but my watch came in this week. Ordered two weeks ago.

I just thought I'd let folks know that I'm currently engaged in heated discussions with the folks in marketing about giving away a free course to anyone willing to show up to test day like this:

Re: 180 watch a scam?
The testimonials section for the LSAT Watch reads like it's part of this thread. In other words, no need for field testers anymore- the reviewers there have already provided some pretty valuable analysis:
"unlike with other watches, no need to waste valuable seconds trying to find the minute hand amidst all the noise or trying to calculate minutes left"
here is a link for future 180'rs: http://lsatwatch.webs.com/apps/testimonials/

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
